I am wondering what you can all tell me from your experiences... I have been on celexa for anxiety/depression symptoms and it helps a lot but I have been wondering if the issues could be mostly thyroid related. My endo suggested I try stopping the thyroid meds because we wern't sure if they were really helping... and when I stopped I felt a huge difference! I was sooo tired and just generally upset/axious.
Has anyone used thyroid meds successfully to treat depression/anxiety and not needed other meds? or gone off of other meds after their thyroid was under control. I would REALLY like to take less meds if i could!
Thanks!

Well you're taking armour already, so you're getting some T3, and usually it's T3 that helps with the depression most. I'd definitely say that being hypo can cause or exacerbate depression, but there are also causes that have nothing to do with your thyroid, so it's hard to say if proper treatment will alleviate your symptoms altogether.
It will definitely allow you to treat your depression better, but you still may have it. I wish I could give you better news!

I started taking T3 and it really helped my depression. It helped more than any anti-depressant ever had. Personally, I want off Wellbutrin...but I have no problem with taking cytomel forever.
