My Synthroid was at the same level for years, tested and everything, until I got on Actos. Once I started that, I needed a much higher dose, from .75 to .150!
Has this happened to anyone else? I found it very interesting.

Yup. Hormone changes mean changes in thyroid dosage. When I had been on glucophage for a while I also needed a doseage change... seems that when I wasn't cycling my hormones were at a fairly low level. Then when I started cycling my estrogen and progesterone started going up and down like they were supposed to, and they tie up a lot of thyroid hormone... so I needed more.
Estrogen binds to thyroid hormone making it unavailable to the body. So it makes sense that if your estrogen is rising like it should in a normal cycle you would need more thyroid hormone replacement.

I swear, I think all of us deserve to earn advanced degrees for the knowledge we have to keep track of with this stuff!
Miss Maren -- I see in your signature that you have been on Actos for a while -- may I ask how it's working for you? Have you experienced adverse side effects? I'm considering trying Actos because I could not take metformin.
I only had mild nausea the first week I took it. Then for fourth months I had REGULAR to the DAY periods, then they just....stopped. I got food poisoning, and couldn't keep pills down for a bit. Then I couldn't get into my doctor in what seemed like forever for a refill (they make you do blood tests for your liver). Then, lo and behold, I had a period off of it! I then started to get very depressed off of it though, and was on a rollercoaster, so I went back on it.
So I don't know if the Acto's caused me to stop having periods eventually or not. It just shocked me that I finally had one once I stopped the Actos. I have had another period since restarting it though.
So I really don't have anything bad to say about it, other than constantly getting tested for liver function. That's driving me nuts.
I DID gain ten pounds on it...forgot that.
Good luck!
