Default thyroid pills and weight loss

three months ago my doctor put me on levothyroxine to help my my thyroid problem. I've lost 15 pounds since then. I am also doing weight watchers, but don't exercise at all. When I went back to my doctor, she said that my thyroid blood work was perfect.

do thyroid levels effect (affect) weight loss? Either way the weight loss is a good thing.

I went from 63kg down to 55kg with Thyroxine. About time there was a good side effect to meds ey? lmao

From my understanding the pills don't actually make you lose weight but of course one of the symptoms of hypothyroidism is weight gain because your metabolism is slowed down. Now that you're taking something that's helping with the levels and therefore helping your metabolism it's probably easier to lose weight and not gain as much. I gained 11 pounds over two years and I have lost two pounds in the past couple weeks of starting Synthroid (although I think that was in part to AF finally coming). I'll have to wait and see! I wouldn't mind shedding a few more pounds.

Also remember that if you lose a lot of weight on top of being jittery and your heart rate being fast that could be a sign of your levels being too high and your med will need to be adjusted.

I've lost over twenty. I also got my periods back. Even with taking metformin, aldactane, and yasmin, I wasn't getting periods. I'm 42, so we reckoned menopause since I started mensrtuating late. My periods are also really heavy, I was so dizzy today I had to lie down.
