But someone said that the higher it is the slower my thyroid is, so does that mean that your thyroid is not high ?
This is so confusing. |

I just read this from a few articles on the internet, but I'm still confused. |

TSH stands for thyroid stimulating hormone. So basically, if your TSH is high your body is sending out more of this hormone (tsh) to get your body to produce more t3/t4 because your body senses there's not enough available to do what it needs to do.
So, high tsh = too little t3/t4 = hypothyroidism
and
Low tsh = too much t3/t4 = hyperthyroidism |

I'd love my new doc except it seems to be the same standard across Canada to stick to the .5-5 range for normal. But at least I am getting treatment now because we're going to try for #2. I will probably be able to convince my current Doc to continue treatment if it works.

But, here is another question for ya, what if your TSH is high and you t3/t4 is also high ?
Or, what if your TSH is low and your t3/t4 is low ? |

This was a day when I felt energetic and had actually ovulated and was in the luteal phase. Not accurate of how I usually am the rest of the year...but took months to get the appt. Now, after AF, I feel like I'm dragging my behind, my period was 11 days long, back to no libido, and my hair has been falling out for eons. Can thyroid change from week to week?

I have the exact same questions. Not really able to find much info on them either. My TSH is 3.24 and my T3 is high and T4 is in the upper portion of the range. However, I have all the symptoms of Hypo. My doc wouldnt even look at my test results. When I told her the numbers, she said I was borderline and wont treat. Wonderful huh? Not.

It is kind of a controversial forum because they advocate self-treating, but there is a ton of good info there |

Points: 335.17 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 335.17 | I agree with the other ladies - you should absolutely find a doctor who specializes in dealing with thyroid disease. I don't think that is normal at all. Before I was diagnosed as being hypo, I had a TON of symptoms for over a year and dealt with them. My body adjusted the best it could, but I felt like crap. I had several thyroid tests, but they came back "normal" and nobody would do anything. It wasn't until my nodules were found that I was diagnosed as hypo and put on meds. The endocrinologist said that even though was I "normal" with my levels, they were too high for me and I needed the meds. They made a big difference for me. Good luck hun. |

This thyroid stuff is incrediblly confusing. Someone asked if you could be hypo and hyper thyroid at the same time. I think you could experience symptoms of both if you are changing your level of medication and if you also have adrenal fatigue. But, clinically, you are either one or the other.
I have to say a huge THANK YOU to Somewhat Damaged for originally posting the links to the Real Thyroid help pages. I have been reading them for hours today. Not clear what is up with me, but happy to know I am not alone in my struggles to feel better.
