Good afternoon ladies,

Can I chart my temp. for fertility even if I have hypo thyroid? Won't the results be inaccurate since women with hypo thyroid have low body temps.in the morning?

Asuming you are are you taking medication to suppliment your hypothroid there's no reason you couldn't temp to figure out when you ovulate. I chart my temp and I'm hypothroid. My temps pre-ovulation are about 97.1-97.5 or so and after ovulation they are 97.9-98.2 or so. They might be lower than normal, but I can still tell by charting when I ovulate.

If your levels have been checked recently and they are stable with your dose of medication temping is ok. However, when your levels are not stable your temps will not be either. Mine were so inconsistent that I finally gave up temping and just use an ovulation microscope to see where I am in the "O" game.

I take my temp too and do find my temp is lower than many peoples. I also use OPKs and other fetility signs to work out when I ov as my temps can be a bit erratic.

I can get a rough idea, 96.3 pre-ov and 97 post ov.

Before I took meds, it was more like 95 and that was why I went to the doctor to check my thyroid as I wasn't conceiving

To be honest.. I've been temping for a long time.. After I started the synthyroid my charts wasn't as erratic as before.. but my temps didn't change a lot.. Now when I started the Metformin.. My temps went up.. I also changed from temping orally to temping vaginally. I've been on clomid and Femara and have a clear O pattern. So I say keep charting!
