Default Is It Time?????

Hi All,

Just wonder if anyone can advise me.

I was put on Met 4 weeks ago. I have felt totally fantastic and have lost 16lb. My main reason for going on Met was because I was having outrageous sugar cravings/no energy/moodiness etc and I was eating all the time, every hour or so and could never feel satisfied.

Within a week of starting Met the sugar cravings totally went and also I was able to stick to three meals a day as I was not even hungry anymore. I have never felt better.

My question is....... should I up my dose????

I am on 1000mg a day but I am feeling the sugar cravings slowly coming back, dont get me wrong they are no way near anything like it was but its gone from not wanting anything sweet for the last 4 weeks to "fancy something sweet" within the last couple of days. I am not craving it bad but I am just starting to think about sugar again. Whilst typing this I am eating a bar of chocolate, my first one since starting Met, before I could eat 4 or 5 a day

I have an appointment with my GP on tuesday but would love some advice before I ask her to up my dose. Has anyone else experienced this and upped the dose to sort it or is it just good old willpower from now on.

Default Doctor will know best!

You can't just up your dose because cravings. It'll all depend on your insulin levels. If the dose you're on now regulates them, then upping wouldn't be a good idea. (Could cause your sugar to drop!) but if infact it's a little high still your doctor should know what to do. I would advise maybe asking for a blood test to see? Your doctor will probably already do this, but if not then i'd ask.

With any dose though, the cravings come back.....eventually BUT they're never as bad like without the metformin!!

Goodluck!!
