Default Timing of AF? When will it start?

Probably a naive/stupid question, but I haven't started BCP in a long time, so I don't remember!

I'm trying to guestimate when to expect AF this cycle. I started BCP (apri) which has 21 active pills and 7 inert/sugar pills.

How long after the last active pill should I expect AF? I seem to recall it was 2-3 days after, but have heard some folks saying they get AF a few days BEFORE the inert pills.

Anyone's experience or knowledge with Apri (generic desogen) or other BCP appreciated.
Thanks,
-Tia

I've been on several BCPs including Desogen (currently on Yasmin). No matter which brand I take, I get AF 2 or 3 days after the active pills.

I always get it about 3 days after, too, if the pills are working right. If you are not on the right pill for you, you may have breakthrough bleeding, which is what happens I think when women get their period before finishing the active pills.

Thanks to you both. Normally I wouldn't care when AF starts, but I'm gearing up for IUI and have some travel overlapping it, and I'm concerned the stars are going to mis-align (again!) and I'll be out of town in the part of my cycle when I need to be in town. Fingers crossed!

Good luck Tia. I also get my period on the Wednesday night or Thursday morning of the week on the sugar pills. So I guess that would be the same as the others - about 3-4 days after the last real pill. I am on Cyclen (Ortho-Cyclen).

I'm hoping for starting on day 4, but I have no control! :-) I'm hoping more that the BCP helped with the cysts.

Thanks to all for the good wishes. -Tia
