My Mood: Points: 6,035.28 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 6,035.28 | Tip for Swallowing tablets!!!!!!!! I dunno if anyone already does this or if I've only just found out and making a bit of a prat of myself but I just found this tip for swallowing tablets and I know how bad it's been for me so I thought I'd share!
I take Inositol and these tabs are hee-ooge, so I tried to cut them up, and by the time I got all worked up it took 20 minutes to take one tablet!!
I tried cutting it up into 4 pieces, 2 pieces, still didn't work, so once I crushed it and put it in my decaff coffee (as caffeine kills inositol!) but then I waited for it to cool down so I could drink it and when it did all the powder had settled to the bottom and it was DISGUSTING.
But now I've found this tip I may seem a right nutter but I'm so happy! I basically LOVE yogurt, and I read this tip, crush the tablet, and mix it into your yogurt!
It cant settle and because of the bits of fruit in their you won't know the difference between a bit of the tablet and a bit of the fruit!
Try it! I'm going to stock up on yogurt tomorrow, I'll let you know how it goes!!! xxxxxx
Loves xxxx

I suck at swallowing pills, but I just put it as far back as I can on my tongue, take a big gulp of water and tilt my head back to help it go in the right direction. If I don't do the head tilt, I'm completely screwed! |

Honestly, I think everyone should try it, basically just cut the tablet into 2 or 4 pieces, get each piece in between two spoons and crush it, then pop it in the yogurt and stir in
I'm going to try it tonight or tomorrow, xxxx

I'll have to try the yogurt trick. Thanks for the tip. |

But if it's all powdered it's an amazing way to take them. Good luck!

I have used yogurt in the past or even when my throat is swollen I use yogurt.... I just grab a spoonfull put the pill in it and instead of chewing I just swallow. You don't even realize that its there with the yougurt. Becareful crushing the pills not all meds should be crushed, partial due to what it can do to your stomach.
It is possible for your throat to get smaller, but I've only heard of it happening when there is a medical problem, like a goiter or thyroid problems.

I put one in my mouth and before I even got the glass of water close I started gagging (well, they were all natural and smelled bad too). I try taking my pills with my toast in the morning. I chew a mouthfull and just before I swallow, I pop a pill. Most of the pills I'm taking now are in the capsuls that you can just take apart, so when I'm making a fruit smoothie, I dump them in there. |

My Mood: Points: 1,154.38 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 1,154.38 | I am on the same boat. For as long as i can remember i haven't been able to swallow a pill.. EVER! No matter what the size, just something about something that hard going down your throat. I've tried and tried different ways, my friends and family don't understand it, they try to tell me different ways to SWALLOW it and i just have to keep telling them, no!
When i was taking vitex capsules, i would sprinkle it on my "custom made" taco salad, which would consist of NO meat! lol i don't eat meat, anyways, i would put mild sauce directly over the vitex, then put sour cream over that, stir it up and i couldn't really taste it at all, but now i am taking Metformin and sadly i have to CHEW IT, so i bought childrens vitamins, and chew it up, then chew met with it, and it helps.. (not alot). I still taste it and sometimes i gag just from the taste, i don't really like yogurt, but i think now's the time for me to start liking it, cause i have to think of it this way, something sweet that i dont like, OR something that makes me gag, that i dont like .lol, think i'll have to try the yogurt thing, thanks for the idea! |

I just wanted to pipe in and say that you should check with your doctor before crushing up some pills to take them-- some pills are time-released and crushing them ruins that aspect of them and can be dangerous for you.

I take, like, 12 pills in the AM, with smaller numbers throughout the rest of the day, and I just throw the whole lot in and swig them down with a few chugs of water. What gets me, are the cinnamon burps (sorry if that's TMI) - I used to love cinnamon, but after taking it medicinally, I'll never think of cinnamon the same again.

I remember this very clearly....dreading every time I had to take my meds. My mom crushed it up for me on a spoon and added honey to it. I don't have trouble with pills now though. Like some of you...I can take a mouth full and think nothing of it.
My Pawpaw just started swallowing pills without crushing them up about 5 years ago (he is 73 today). He would freak out about swallowing a whole pill.
