Default tips on testing blood sugar while on met?

I'm checking my sugars but I'm not sure when I'm supposed to and I don't know what's a good # and what's a bad #. I'm not diabetic (as far as I know), but I have the monitor from being pregnant (I had to have IV feedings and take insulin) with DD and I took my met. wrong two days ago and realized I should keep an eye on my sugars (my sugar shot down cause I took the met before I was supposed to).

Does anyone else test their blood sugar while they are taking metformin? Do you have any tips on when I should test? What do my #s mean? I've been consistently between 80 and 100, but had a high reading after lunch yesterday of 143 (it was a HUUUUGE birthday lunch for my DH). Are those #s Ok? TIA!

I also test my blood sugar. I test before breakfast, then once randomly during the day. I like my before breakfast to be below 110. It really depends on you, what is normal for you. I would talk to you doctor to see what he/she feels is a safe range for you. If you want to talk more, just PM me!

I'm hoping to start met/testing my sugars as soon as I can get to the freaking doctors. I find if I don't eat I get sick. I get the shakes and go pale and well, it's just not very pleasant. I had my fasting glucose levels tested 2 years ago and was told they were "normal" but something doesn't seem right to me. I've had my fasting glucose and Oral glucose tolerance test redone recently but I haven't got the results back yet. (The doctors was closed due to snow storm my last day off, grrr) I'm actually kind of nervous about the results.
