I am so tired.
I feel like I have been up for 36 hours - my head aches, my eyes are tired and sore and it is an effort to lift my arm. My thinking to be slow and labored, like walking in wet cement, and I have to force the words of my thoughts to come.
When i was 14 I went to bed for a few weeks as I thought I had the flu or glandular fever but it was PCOS. This started at puberty and I was very athletic. I felt like a switch had been turned off because I stopped being active and I stopped winning running races. I thought it happened to every one.
Any one else find this?
Any cures for the tiredness apart from 14 hours sleep!!!
certain vitamins like B6 and C can help with energy. fatigue is a common symptom of PCOS. What works for me is the vitamins and naps whenever possible.
Yes! YES! I am constantly tired and like you, I was very active. i played tennis, basketball, running...now it is so difficult just to make it through a day. I never knew that I was afflicted with this until a month ago, but I was always tired even as a teenager. I can easily sleep for hours and still be tired! I'm moody and easily irritated by things that never bothered me in the past.
I never thought "something" was wrong with me since I was always active and hardly ever got a cycle and since I was not and am not sexually active- I never thought I was pregnant. Over the last three years I have gained about 80 pounds and it is depression although there is a consolation. I'm a pretty decent height so it doen't look as bad on me, but of course I prefer that I lose and am working to do that now. I like being smaller!

I've always been a bad sleeper but insomnia runs on both sides of my family so it's hard to say if mine is made worse by PCOS.
I do struggle with fatigue, although it's improved a little with weight loss. I got in the habit of napping in the afternoon when I was pregnant and that stuck with me for 4 years! It's only the last few months that I've been able to make it through the day without a nap!
Sometimes I can't put a sentence together, I can look at an object and not be able to say its name. I walk across the house only to realize I have no idea where I was headed.
Once when I was 12 I went to bed in the middle of the day and didn't wake up for 10 days. My mom said she woke me up once or twice a day to make sure I was alive. Then I woke up and felt great! That never happened again.
