Exclamation tmi... anyone itch when using pads?

I'm allergic to bleach and, after a couple of days using pads, I begin to itch like crazy... you know, "down there". Does anyone else have this problem?

I know it isn't an yeast infection, because it immediately starts to relieve itself once I stop wearing the pads. A little air(TMI, I know) and I'm okay, but, my god, whenever I have those pads on I could just die.

I would now like to say that I have, officially, turned into a woman without the least bit of shame. -nods-

I also get that way towards the end of air. I think its from being damp down there.

Hi

Yippee I thought it was just me

I always find i get itchy if i use stores own brand pads/ towels. If I use proper ones - eg Always, Kotex , Bodyform etc that I'm ok.

I have major issues with pads. Can only use 1 brand and 1 type of that brand and not walk around scratching like a man with jock itch! I figure it must be a dye/fragrance issue. My mom reminded me she couldnt use disposable diapers on me cuz my tushie would turn bright red. I use diaper cream, Desitin Creamy, while on my period and wearing pads... cuts down on the irritation.

That's a good idea, I might try that. I know exactly how the jock itch thing is, lol.

I feel better now that I'm not alone in my itchiness. Not that I want y'all to be itchy, lol.

Im gonna throw this out there too. I find that if I keep things trimmed up down there I dont itch as bad either. I have no access to a beard trimmer right now so for me I get to itch. LOL

Have you tried unbleached pads? You can get them at health food stores and some markets. I get mine at Whole Foods. My skin is super sensitive so anything with bleaches or fragrances is pretty much out. You might want to give them a try and see if that helps.

I do too! Even if i use the more so well known brands that Eva mentioned. I've never heard of the unbleached pads, not sure if you can get them here or not. If anyone has anymore tips etc i'd love to hear them.

Here are the kind I use, like I said before I get them from Whole Foods. They have a section that tells you where to buy them and mentioned that they are sold at health stores and most pharmacies. Anyway here is link http://www.natracare.com/products/feminine_products.htm

I hope this helps!!

ETA: at the bottom of the where to buy section there are several different internet or mail order places listed if you don't find them at stores near you

I can not believe that this thread started! I have always just thought it was just another "curse" I had to endure! I have never mentioned this to anyone because I partly had myself convinced it was just all in my head. I also love to "air out " that itchy skin. Mine also seems to happen toward the end of af.

I'm another person for whom it depends on the pad. I've had good success with Kotex, but Always kills me. I also have really sensitive skin and have to be careful about added fragrances and so on (and had lots of diaper rash as a kid).
