It's very nice to find this board, where so many of my symptoms finally make sense! I've always had acne around the mouth and chin, and could never figure out why, until I learned that these are the androgen sensitive areas of the skin.
My problem is that lately, I develop pustules from virtually every single zit I get. To describe, this are pus-filled zits that eventually pop if I don't do it myself. They usually aren't very deep, although a few will be cystic. But they seem to develop rapidly, like within a half a day, so sometimes I don't even know they are there until I look in a mirror. Which means I'm walking around work with these horrible looking pustules on my face, not even aware.
Do any of you get these, and what do you do about them? I am going through concealer at a rapid rate, but there's really not much else that seems to help. I can't use any stronger meds at the moment since I am trying to get pregnant!
This happens to me too. I usually try to pop them before they get too big and ugly. I know you aren't supposed to, but I would rather have have a red spot than a ginormous white thing that looks like it's going to explode over the next person I talk to.
My advice would be to try tea tree oil. At first it may make all of the pustules come out at once, but once they are out, they dry up pretty quickly and after a while you will find you get fewer of them. It's worked pretty well for me anyway.
Hi,
I currently have cystic Acne on my chin and back and can totally relate....those little buggers pop up out of nowhere! For treatment, I found that BCP's tend to work great at keeping skin clear (I'm not currenlty on any, thus the flare up). Additionally, St. Ives makes a medicated Apricot scrub that I swear by. Try using it twice a day and see if you find any improvement. I hope it clears up for you soon as I can understand how frustrating it is.
I second getting a great scrub. I think that is key. I use the walmart brand of the St. Ives scrub because it is scrubbier - is that a word? Anyway, before I found out I needed meds to get it under control, it was the only thing that made it remotely manageable.
I also drink two tbs of organic apple cider vinegar (it must have the mother in it) in apple juice every day. It really has helped improve the texture of my skin. It's way less oily, even before the meds. My sister uses it as a toner. It doesn't taste bad once you get used to it. It isn't like drinking Heinz from the grocery.
Egg white facial. Whip egg white to soft peak, apply and let dry. This will bring out a LOT at first, but after a few days, they should be cleared out. I have dry skin, so can only do this once a week, but even that seems to make a big difference for me.
