Exclamation Told test results normal????

Just got my bloodwork back from RE's office (although after claiming I didn't have bloodwork done with them, the MA found them in my dr's mailbox. I had the blood drawn a week ago!!!)

Anyway, aside from my mini rant there, and not getting to talk to the dr myself, I am confused.

I know that you can have PCOS symptoms with normal test results, but now I am stymied.

If anyone has some insight on these numbers, feel free to respond.

THe first thing the Medical Assistant told me was my TSH looked great. That's all fine and good, but they only did the TSH, and I already take meds for that, ty very much.

TSH 1.24 (had it done last month at my internist, tsh 1.04 t3 free 319 and t4 free 1.3, so I am not too concerned about this)

Testosterone free and total 24ng/dl

% free testosterone 1.16

Testosterone, free 2.8

(wasn't sure if this was right as the MA punched hole over this part of record, I know, dumb, huh?)
?FSH 4.8 MIU/ML

LH 14.3 MIU/ML

Prolactin 6.2 (My son is almost weaned, he nurses maybe 1x every other day or every 2 days)

Maybe I'm crazy, maybe not. I have dark patches of skin under my arms, and in groin area, and I've got this weird rash that comes and goes on my stomach area, plus a cyst on each ovary that I've been told not to worry about and to check in another 6 months. And of course, no AF!!!!!

Anyone else in this boat???? Any suggestions? Maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree...

Thanks!!!!! **muah**

Default So upset now

I've been reading some other posts since I put mine up and now I'm so upset. I just read in other posts when the LH is elevated and the FSH is lower, that is a sign of PCOS. I am not sure at what level is considered PCOS, though. The Medical Assistant was telling me over the phone that my labs don't indicate PCOS. She told me to stay on Prometrium until it is finished, and then call her back when I get AF. And that could take up to 2 weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!

I need some help, should I call the little hussy back and demand to talk to the doctor, or should I wait this out???

I've already got hairs sprouting on my chin, and I used to have tons of hair on my belly, but I had that all removed.

Thanks so much for replying, thought I was going to go insane! I'm already weepy from the Prometrium!

I called and left a message (can you believe it, their office is so busy that when you call, you get voice mail every time!) requesting that I speak with the DR about my results. An hour later the dr called, saying she was going to call me anyways (yeah right, whatever) and said, after going over my history AGAIN (don't they ever read their own files???) a DHEA test, a 17 hydro something test?? and insulin. She only put the insulin on after I mentioned I'd had blood sugar problems in the past.
Isn't this crazy?

Thanks again, I had some medicinal chocolate and am feeling better.

I'm sorry you got such trouble for that office. I suggest you read the sticky on lab results and how they can sometimes be wrong.

I'm glad they are testing your insulin levels. I hope this doc gets you on the right track. If not I hope you get one who does

Default F.Y.I.

Any time your LH:FSH ratio is NOT 1:1 it is an indication of PCOS, and yours are grossly out of balance.
Do get your fasting insulin taken. And make sure you don't eat OR drink (not even water) anything after midnight. That includes brushing your teeth. (I know - yuck!)

Have you read the Inciid article yet that I link to in my sig line? If not, now's the time.

It cleared my brain fog, brought back af, helped me lose weight, made me o' again, and helped me get pregnant. My first Metformin miracle is now 3 years old, my second (surprise one) arrived December11!

Thanks for the link! I am checking it now.

I had my blood drawn this morning and was really good except I accidentally had a quarter of a calcium chew - I meant to spit it out but oops! I swallowed it. The nurse didn't think it was a big deal but I bet I'll have to take it over. Oh well, I think I have enough blood left *wink*
