I haven't been back here in a long long time, but after not having a period since December 2005, I decided it was time to go see the doctor. Thing is, we are currently uninsured as I am not working anymore, so I found a place that helps set up payment plans and the like. Anyhow, I went in and the doctor put me on Provera, which I had been on in the past and it never worked. The following week, I had to go to get an ultrasound for my pelvic region since I have been complaining of pelvic pain (and was positive I had cysts). When I had the ultrasound (both pelvic and endo-vaginal), the tech told me the uterine lining was not thick but she could not see the ovaries during the endo-vaginal ultrasound because there were a "lot of cysts". I called my doctor and after waiting about a week and a half, talked with the nurse who said that the doctor was "very concerned" and I needed an endometrial biopsy. He could not answer my questions (I'm assuming for malpractice purposes?) over the phone and I can't get in to the doctor's until the 18th (which they are not doing the endo. biopsy then, but my pap then).
Why would they need to do an endometrial biopsy if my lining wasn't thick? Oh and I got my period finally, on the last day of Provera, and it's ending now (a week and two days later). What exactly is the biopsy needed for??
I was thinking when I first read your post that maybe they were doing the endometrial biopsy to check for unusual cells in the uturus. But I decided to do a quick search online and this is what I found.
An endometrial biopsy helps a health professional evaluate whether the endometrium is going through its normal stages of change during the menstrual cycle and to determine whether cancerous conditions are present.
I hope that helps. Please keep us posted on how things are going.

Thank you Amanda, it is much appreciated. I figure I may have endometriosis on top of PCOS. I'm not even thinking about cancer because that's just too scary, plus I really don't think I have it. I'm more concerned (at the moment) about the amenrrohea and ovarian cysts.

You are very much welcome. I hope that everything works out. Cysts are quite common in all women, not just women with PCOS. But most women don't have multiple cysts. I remember the last ultrasound I got for my ovaries, I could see all of the cysts on the screen, they were white. I asked the tech. what those spots were and she said it was nothing to worry about, which is also what the doctor said. So I don't worry about them, unless one ruptures and then *OUCH!!* I hope you find out what's going on and that it's nothing to worry about. Keep us posted.
