Tonsils don't grow back, you probably still have your adenoids, which are causing you problems.

When I had my tonsils removed at the age of 21 the doctor did tell me that there was a chance of them growing back. So I'd say if you think they are and are causing you problems then go and get them checked out by your doctor

My Mom had her tonsils out when she was a kid and they did grow back. I hope that's not the case for you.

If you're feeling very uncomfortable, I'd give your doctor a call. It couldn't hurt to at least have it checked out.

It's rare, but tonsils can grow back. I had my tonsils and adnoids out at 19...the surgery had some complications and I was in the hospital for about a week afterwards.

My tonsils are now growing back and although the surgeon wants to take them I won't let him due to the complications last time, otherwise the doctors would be taking them a second time. BTW, I am only 24...so its only been 5 years since the original removal.

You should see a doctor though, even if your tonsils aren't growing back there is obviously some kind of infection if you are having symptoms like that.

Sorry to hear about the problems you are having. You didn't mention how long it's been since you had your tonsils removed but for the first 3 years following my tonsillectomy, I still had throat infections. The infection eventually moved into my ears because they are connected and I eventually had severe problems with fluid in my ears requiring me to have tubes placed in. I still have problems with my ears to this day 8 years after having the tubes placed. If your tonsil problems were caused by allergies like mine, you may not ever have complete relief if your allergies worsen. My allergies have worsened to the point where I'll have adult onset asthma in a few years.

Talk to your doctor. You may need a daily allergy pill.
