My Mood: Points: 2,534.07 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 2,534.07 | Too many follies?!?!? I'm so frustrated! I just got back from my RE and after 7 days on Follistim for my first IUI cycle (3 @ 225, 2 @ 150, 2 @ 75) my ovaries are so full of follies they are touching... I have over 35 total, with 10 ready to go and at least 4 other possibles... I'm freaking out here because we will not consider reduction, and they said there is a very high risk for higher order mulltiples with this many eggs (obviously). I'm waiting for my dr to call to discuss our options, but my estrogen is over 2000 and I'm just so frustrated now. If my insurance covered IVF we would just do a retrieval, but it does not, so now I just don't know what to do. Has anyone else had a similar experiecne? Any advice is appreciated! |

Then my cycle was cancelled b/c they shrunk or stopped growing. Not fun at all. I wish more insurance would cover the IVF side. That's what we are looking at now. Hoping it all went well, though.

The DR's office at the time couldn't switch it to an IVF cycle, but now they have a different facility, so they can in the future if need be. I think it is a personal decision. I didn't want to go through with it because I was afraid that if a lot fertilized then we would be at risk for preterm babies who may not make it, and I couldn't deal with that. Follow your heart! GL!
Also, my ovaries were overlapping, and it was so painful! Get lots of rest!!

My Mood: Points: 19,677.49 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 19,677.49 | I'm in a similar situation now. We're looking at 5-10 follies that may pop if I take the HcG shot, so I'm on another night of 'waiting it out'. I HOPE the eggs don't ALL die off, like with MrsMuelly. One is more than ready to go now. My biggest worry is OHSS.
I think our options are a) wait and see if my ovaries quieten down before triggering so that fewer eggs actually pop, b) trigger with a natural LH surge, hoping that fewer eggs pop than with the trigger shot, c) BD instead of IUI hoping that fewer of DH's guys get to where they're supposed to go, d) do a half trigger, e) cancel this cycle.
If you cancel and start again next cycle with a lot lower meds, you might get a better shot at just getting a couple of eggs. If I get cancelled, we'll probably start at 37.5 or 75 instead of 150 like we did this time.
Hope this helps. To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

My Mood: Points: 17,930.19 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 17,930.19 | I was in a similar situation in May. I was doing gonal-f for the first time and ended up with about 15 mature follicles. DH and I would not consider reduction either and so they cancelled our cycle. It was very frustrating considering we paid for the meds out of pocket and it seemed like such a waste. The one thing my RE said that was encouraging was that at least my body responds very well to the meds and next time they will adjust my dose and I should have a great cycle with a perfect #of mature follicles. Some people don't respond at all. Also, if it was your first cycle I was told that a lot of times on your first cycle of injects it is a real guessing game and so many people end up having to cancel. HTH. Good luck.

My Mood: Points: 2,534.07 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 2,534.07 | Well, my dr called and said when he really looked at all the u/s pics (it had been the nurse that had actually done the u/s) there were 3-4 over 18, and wanted me to trigger that night and do the IUI Friday. We ended up doing that, so now I going back and forth between being freaked out that he was wrong and we will end up super multiples and being worried it didn;t work at all... ugh this is all so emotional! Thanks so much to everyone for all the advice and for sharing your experiences. The next two weeks will be so tough!!! |

Well, I'm still having a lot of bloating and pain from all the follies reabsorbing, at least that's what the nurse says it's from, so I'm just downing my gatorade and trying to rest! What ended up happening fo ryou? |

My Mood: Points: 19,677.49 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 19,677.49 | Hi BeachBaby,
I was totally cancelled. Not even allowed to BD. I have about as many follies as you (when we looked yesterday, 2 over 18, and about 12+ more that were 14-17mm and countless smaller ones). Yesterday's E2 was 2157. My doctor didn't want to proceed with a number over 1000. I don't ovulate on my own until about CD16-18, so I'll be asking him today whether we can wait this out and see if my ovaries get quieter on their own between now and the end of the week. They don't feel quiet, but it's worth a shot. I definitely know how you feel about the whole cycle being down the drain by cancelling. I hope you get a good BFP (no more than triplets!). I'll let you know if anything changes with my situation, but as it stands now, nothing's going to happen. To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 10 or greater. Points: 977.14 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 977.14 | I had a similar situation. This month they upped my dose since I only had 3 marginal quality eggs last month. This month I had 13 follies and they cancelled the IUI and advised me to not BD, but if I was okay with reduction to go ahead and trigger and BD. So, we triggered and BD'd. However, we are only okay with reduction if it is some crazy number like 9 or 10 where no one, including me, would survive the pregnancy.
We triggered early on the advice of the RE to keep the smaller one's from maturing and perhaps rupturing. The 2WW sucks! I am going back and forth between wondering if we are in for super multiples and wondering if I get a BFN if that means I am just so broken my body won't accept a PG anyway! UGH!

My Mood: Points: 2,534.07 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 2,534.07 | UGH. It's 10 dpIUI and I woke up this morning with spotting. I freaked and called my RE and they said it's still a little too soon to test, so I have to go in Wed morning for a blood test. I'm so upset, frustrated.... The waiting is killing me. I felt a little crampy this morning too, so basically I'm feeling completly defeated and frustrated. Has anyone else had spotting after IUI and can share some advice? Especially positive experience? I'm just so tired of being positive about things and then getting devastated, as Im sure so many of you can understand. To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 10 or greater.
