Default too much vitamin A, D and E??

Hi

My prescribed meds are

1000mg metformin
30 mg Cipramil (Celexa)

and I also take
a multi-vitamin and mineral
cod-liver oil for Omega 3
star flower oil for omega 6

But the oils also contain vitamins A, D and E.

So I am in effect taking MORE than the daily recommended amount of these vitamins .. is this a problem?

Thanks, Lis

Of those, vitamin A is the only one that could be a real problem. Pregnant women (or those TTC) need to keep below 10,000 units of vitamin A, for the sake of the baby. I am not sure what the American RDA on vitamins D and E are, but I know that 800IU of vitamin E a day is perfectly fine (it's what I take). As for D, how much do you figure that you're getting? I doubt that you're getting too much, unless you also drink enormous amounts of fortified milk too.

I am not familliar with the meds that you're on, so perhaps someone here who is can let you know if there are any contraindications with the vitamins that you're taking.

Default Maximum vitatim intakes

Hi. I don't remeber where I read this, but I copied it off of a website (maybe it was part of a magazine article?).

The daily maximum intake for vitamin A is 10,000 IU, for vitamin D is 2000 IU, and for E is 1100 IU.

These are not necessarily therapeutic doses, they are safety limits. You need way less D, for example, even at therapeutic doses.
