Default Took prometrium and still no AF

Hi all!! I am new here, I just found this place and I am pretty excited about it. Anyway, I just recently was diagnosed with PCOS in April. I found out because I finally went to the doctor after nineteen months of trying to conceive my second child to no avail. This is my first month taking prometrium. I took it for 10 days, 200mg per pill. I was told that after the first day off the pill that I was supposed to start. It is six days later and still no period. After seven days I am supposed to call my doctor and schedule another appointment. So I was wondering if any other ladies have taken this drug and if so how long did it take you to start? Any information would be appreciated and helpful. Thanks in advance for those of you who take the time to answer my questions. And thank goodness there is a forum where women can come together and talk with each other about PCOS.

Prometrium is my "drug of choice!"

Remember it can take 7 to 30 days for AF to start. If you are overweight by a significant amount you may need more of it. I take 200mg two times a day for 7 days. But I am overweight. Talk to your Doctor about it. You may need more time to build up a good lining before it starts to shed, that could be whats taking the meds so long to work!

Good luck!

First, i would like to welcome you to soulcysters and second, a month or so ago I did take prometrium to make AF come and after the last pill i took Af was here in 4 days. This is my second time taking it and I took my last pill last night so I will see how fast Af will come this time around.

Thanks for the responses. I actually talked with my doctor's nurse today and if I don't start within the next two days they will start me on estrogen and then do prometrium again. Have any of you done this? I just wish my body would work like it is supposed to, I hate that I have to pump it full of drugs to make it behave. Plus, it's hard for me to swallow pills so this is going to be a real nightmare. Again, thanks for the reponses and for the welcome!!! It is so nice to talk to people who understand what I am going through.

I was put on prometrium for 10 days and was told 2 weeks after that I should have my period. That did not happen Now my endo wants me to have an injection put into my hip, to see if that way will work. My dietitian seems to think I need to get my insulin and testosterone down before the progesterone will work. The people at the Endo's office seem slow getting my Metformin dosage up to treatment level
Just want to get on with this, I know the worst is to come.

Well, since it never brought on AF they put me on premarin(estrogen) 2 doses a day for ten days and then another 10 days of prometrium. Only time will tell if it works or not.
