I went to an endo and got my lab values back (hormones and TSH) and they were normal and she just wanted to keep me on yasmin. Are my hormones normal due to yasmin? Should I press for metformin? I'm 5 5 and 165 and would like to lose weight but I'm also afraid of getting diabetes. Is it worth it for me to ask for a script for met?

The BCP synthetically move your hormones and are going to skew the results of any hormone tests...you have to be off them for a period to see what is really going on normally.

If you are IR (Bloodwork) or have symptoms of IR...if you have abnormal male hormones or hormones that convert easily to male hormones (Testosterone, free androgen, DHEAs, FSH:LH ratio etc) then you're a candidate. Your Dr needs to run bloodwork.

There is a lot of info on the FAQ thread about who is a candidate for metformin..I'd check it out. Good luck!
