In March my BEST friend from school made contact through FriendsReunited, but I live in London and she now lives in New York, so we knew we wouldn't be able to meet for a while. She came over to London to visit her family in June but...I was on holiday in Majorca!!
And then, a very happy thing happened....my company decided to send me on a 3-day trip to our US office which is 30 miles from NY! AND they agreed that they would book my return flight for Saturday night instead of Friday night.
SO, tomorrow I'm going to hop on the train to Manhattan and MEET MY FRIEND!!! I AM SOOOOOO EXCITED!!! We are going to have dinner Friday night, I'll sleep over at her apartment, then we are going to do a boat trip out to the Statue of Liberty, and a little bit of shopping before I fly home.
EEEEEEEEEEEEE (that's me squealing with excitement)
And just to show how old I am....we haven't seen each other for 21 years!

PS here I am in USA and I am missing my babies! The only nights I have spent away from them before are:
1. I spent a few nights away from baby 1 when I was in hospital having baby 2. (but she came to visit every day)
2. I spent one night away from both of them when I had my Gallbladder removed (but they both came to visit).
My husband has given them each one of my nightshirts to cuddle in bed, liberally sprayed with my favourite perfume! Am I so easily replaced???(just joking!)

I'm back, I had a great time, just not long enough!
I met my friend at Grand Central station, luckily we still recognised each other. Now I remember why she was my best friend...we just started talking as if we had never lost touch, non-stop natter from 5pm, all the way through dinner, and carried on until gone 1 in the morning when we both fell asleep. Started again in the morning, we looked at old photos, went out for brunch, cruised around the shops in Manhattan, and then all too soon it was time for me to go to the airport! She will be over here in September, so we will get together again then.

PS We all know how AF just loves to come on trips, so I was absolutely sure she would decide to come along too, probably while I was in the middle of a presentation, or walking around Manhattan, but she managed to get held up for a few days. For once she took the hint that she was not welcome!
