Default Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)???

Hi Ladies,
Just wandering whether anyone tried Traditional Chinese Medicine in order to regulate cycles or to TTC? I'll share my experience just in case...
After going off the pill and not getting any AF I decided to give it a try. It's a bit weird - they feel your pulses and look at the colour of your tongue as all these things are relevant in Chinese diagnostics. He then gave me bags of herbs which I have to cook up and drink. It has twigs, berries, shavings of leaves and so on in it. The stuff tastes pretty bitter and disgusting but after a few times I'm used to it and it doesnt repulse me anymore. The practitioner also informed me that I should stay away from cheese as PCOS is a mucus related disease in TCM and cheese is very good at producing mucus internally. He seemed to be perfectly confident that the herbs will get AF coming again and scheduled an appointment in a month's time - at that time I may also have some accupuncture. The herbs wont last a whole month so he also gave me a tincture called PCOS drops to take when the raw herbs run out. Tomorrow will be a week since I've been on this. I'll keep you all posted but if anyone has tried it please let me know how it was.

I think TCM sounds wonderful, and I am going to go in for some acupuncture therapy soon.

I'm also trying to limit dairy. It's so hard! I love cream cheese on dried Turkish apricots

Please do keep us updated! I loved reading your post!!

I'm on TCM herbs too, except mine are in a pill form that I take three times a day. I was able to have a period (without having one for over 6 months) on them, and I'm supposed to take them for a total of three months.

I'm about halfway through now, and with the full dosage of the pills I feel some really bad mood swings and I forget if I've taken the pills. So I've cut back to two doses a day, but I need to tell the TCM doctor about it.

I was also told to stay away from dairy. What's really weird is I have noticed my tongue looks different now than when I went to the TCM doctor.

My practitioner said that although dairy is generally not good if I at least stay off the cheese then that's a good thing. He said I can have a bit of milk with my coffee and I am also in love with bircher muesli which of course has both milk and yoghurt. How long did you take the herbs before getting your period? I've been taking mine for a week and my nipples are very sore since yesterday (sorry if TMI) so I hope that this is a sign of good things to come. We can only hope...

I just spoke with my TCM practitioner and she said that my mood swings are definitely not caused by the pills I'm taking because she said no one she's prescribed them to have ever had any side effects. So I don't know if she's just saying that or if maybe there have been women who have had side effects and just didn't tell her or if it's all in my head now.

I took the pills for about 3 1/2, 4 weeks before getting my period. It was really long though, probably 3 days of spotting before any flow started, and then it lasted for a week beyond that before it stopped. But then again, I was just happy to get a period.

Mariya-
I did TCM and acupuncture for two months while TTC. I hadn't had a cycle without medication for 18months. I had two natural o's and got pg with the second one. Unfortunately for us, it was ectopic, however, I now have regular cycles again after so long. I truly attribute my newly acquired cycle regularity to the TCM. The herbs are really important as well. I know it is quite strange to brew up the twigs and berries, but I really believe in it. In fact, on Saturday, I have an appointment again. The acupuncturist said acupuncture can help in keeping the tubes nice and open to help decrease the risk of ectopics! I wish you lots of luck!

What are the herbs in the formula, if I may ask?

Chatter- Here, it is about 65 US $ for a session and the herbs might cost 8$ a bag. It just depends on the practioner. Check with your insurance, they might cover at least part of the cost. Unfortunately, mine does not cover it, but I feel it is worth it! GL!

Well, it's me again. Thanks for all your replies and for those success stories as well. As for me, well I've been on the herbs for 2 weeks and so far no AF, so we'll see what happens. i have just run out of the raw herbs and tonight will start the PCOS drops. I'll keep you posted.

I too started back to acupuncture. I am looking forward to it and to hopefully improving my egg quality as they say they do!

Wishing you GL too!

Default Another update from me

Hi everyone! I have some good news - finally!!!
Yesterday AF started!
Ok I know that for normal people that's not such great news but for us cysters it's a sign of hope that good things can happen. I have been on the herbs for just over 2.5 weeks now and it looks like it may be starting to work. Hopefully this will not be a one-off event. I figure that once I get more or less regular I will be able to work out if I O and when, in order to maximise chances of conception.
Good luck to everyone else and please keep us posted with your info and stories.

Mariya-Congrats on AF. I know it does sound wierd, but it is exciting. I am still waiting to o this cycle. CD 20 and counting. I can feel it, but its taking a long time!

Patience is key right? We are still out this and next cycle, so I just kind of want things to move along! GL to you with this fresh cycle!
