It just occurred to me that, seeing as the majority of posters on the SC lists are from places other than Aus., it might be helpful to post a list of things that might go by a different name in other places.

Arugula = Rocket
Romaine = Cos
Garbanzo beans = Chickpeas
Flax = Linseed (but don't buy linseed oil from the hardware store)
Granola = Muesli
Wholewheat = Wholemeal
Oatmeal = Porridge (near enough)
Chard/Swiss chard = Silverbeet (red or white)
Peppers/Sweet peppers = Capsicum
Cantaloupe = Rock Melon
Rutabaga = Swede
Courgette = Zucchini
Aurbergine = Eggplant
Apple crisp = Apple crumble
Jello = Jelly
Pulses = Legumes

Diaper = Nappy
Crib = Cot
Recieving Blanket = Bunny Rug
Binky / Pacifier = Dummy
Boppy = U-shaped Feeding cushion
Pack'n'Play = Portacot

Okay, I have a question - what is double cream and single cream? Is that like thickened cream and normal cream?

That's been bothering me for a long time.

That's what I take it as being. I like to buy 'pure' cream. It doesn't have gelatine or anything else added.

I take half and half to mean sem-skimmed milk - as in skimmed = no fat; semi-skimmed = half fat and whole milk = full fat??????
