When I was ttc I was dx with mild pcos. I had the typical cysts on my ovaries, irregular ovulation, slightly elevated testosterone, slightly elevated insulin levels and from what I can remember my LH/FSH was a tiny bit off. I am overweight and have a little bit of hair where I dont want it.
Currently I am not ttc. We have two children (and two in heaven). My youngest is 18mos old. Since his birth I have had my insulin rechecked and my # was in the normal range. I started working out in January and my cycles have been exactly on time every month since. The weight has recently started falling off. I know that weight loss for me seems to irradicate most of my symptoms and hormone irregularities.
My question is this: Since Im not ttc I dont have anyone paying any attention to my pcos. I dont know if I should still have regular blood tests to check my hormone levels even when not ttc. Should I be seeing a doctor regularly to keep check on my pcos? What should I be doing to stay on top of this?
I'd still be keeping an eye out for PCOS as it can come back and start havoc all over again. While your fertility worries are currently over it still leaves the endocrine side to PCOS there.
Talk to your GP (Family doctor) about your PCOS and what needs to be done to keep it in check. S/he might have some idea for things that need to be monitored at this time. Good Luck hun and congrats on getting your PCOS symptoms under control!

Hi
I would def still go and have it monitored, PCOS causes many other things besides infertility, heart disease, high cholesterol and even thyroid issues, better to be safe than sorry...
