Default TRICOMIN, anyone?

Friends, I just joined this forum and I should read all the threads before creating this one, but I want to throw my question out, and I hope that even if the question has been answered already, someone will give me the link or give some answers.

A little about me: I am 35, female, with Norwood 3-4 level of hair loss. I started losing my hair in my late teens/early 20s. I always battled heavy cystic acne and in my 30s, my weight went out of control. My period has always been regular. Throughout my 20s doctors didn't care about my hairloss. They told me to take rogaine and not worry about it. My loss was severe enough that I had a failed hair transplant at 31 (had shock loss and lost a lot of my existing hair). FINALLY I started doing research--and went to see an endocronologist, who found a HUGE nodule on my thyroid (had surgery last year) and found me to have PCOS. He also biopsied my scalp, and my hair showed Androgenetic loss (AGA).

I have been on 100 mg of spiro for the past three years. When I go up to 200, like my doctor wants me to, my period disappears. I intend to go up to 200, after reading some of your posts. I am also on sulphamide (antibiotics) for acne (have been for years) and I put on differin (for acne--and great for fighting signs of aging!) at night (I still get cystic acne, but not as much). I tried metform and glucophage--but I got very ill with stomach upset, etc.

For my hair loss I have tried hair pieces, wigs, partial wigs. I now use Toppik, but my hair is too thin for even that to work. I have tried Minodixil, and it makes my scalp itchy to the point of creating more loss.
I am at my wit's end. I am in therapy for severe depression--and I am thinking of trying HT again. The shampoo I use is just store bought stuff with 0.5% coal tar, which helps with itching.

Sorry for the long life-story, but I just wanted to give you all some foundation.

My questions are:
1. I recently read about Avodart (Dinesteride?). Can I take that with Spiro, or should I take it instead of Spiro. Should I take it at all--that is, does it work? I hear that it is FDA approved for hair loss in men, am I right? So this should be covered by my medical insurance?

2. I have also read about Tricomin--a topical solution, like Minoxidil. Has anyone here tried it, and does it work?

Many thanks to anyone who answers me here . I stumbled upon this site an hour ago and I already feel happier. My severe lack of self esteem, balding head, weight gain, etc., has crippled me emotionally and I find it hard to reach out to people.
