Ok so since I am fairly new to all this I have a question about the trigger shot" So last month my first month on clomid I created ONE FOLLIE and it matured at 21 1/2cm and they gave me the trigger shot. So I am being watched again this month and well on CD 12 I had THREE FOLLIES one 9cm, 11cm and 12cm and they DID NOT GIVE ME THE TRIGGER shot or are they acting like they are they just said continue to do your OPK kits and call us when you get a surge which they in turn will tell me have intercourse (just love that proper word LOL) so here I am CD16 and so far no surge, no CM, no nothing now on Saturday I had some jelly type of mucus but it wasn't much nor stretchy so I blew it off and nothing! I was thinking if I don't get the surge in a couple days will they still be able to give me the trigger? OR are there too many follies and that is why they won't do it? Because with my caculations today my 9cm would be 17, the 11cm would be 19cm (matured), 12cm would be 20cm (matured) and still no signs of ovulation last month I did ovulated on CD19 am I being too impatient? I am on CD17 now. Thanks for ANY AND ALL advice or opinions you can provide!!! Getting nervous here.

My understanding is that the trigger shot forces you to ovulate in 36-48 hours so they may not have given it to you because the follicles weren't the right size yet. Good luck!

TTC #1 since January 2009 & diagnosed May 2009
------------------------------------------------
Round 1: - Clomid 50, 100, 150 - thinned lining & no follies
Round 2: Femara 2.5, trigger - bfn
Round 3: Femara 5, trigger, IUI - bfn
Round 4: Follistim 100, 125, 150 (Days 3 - 15)
HCG Day 16 (one follie at 19)
IUI Day 18 (1/21)
I think they'll need to do another follie check, because sometimes they don't grow as planned...some shrink, some grow at a slow rate etc. They wouldn't give you the trigger shot when the follies were so small. The trigger acts as an artificial LH surge, so it makes the eggs come out. They can't give it to you until the follies are mature. Generally speaking, the trigger shot helps the follies grow that last little bit (a couple of mm I believe). Some doctors will trigger when there is 3 mature follies, some won't. If you have a trigger, you will most likely ovulate all of the mature follies, if you don't have the trigger you will most likely only ovulate one of the follies. If I were you I would call up and ask for another monitoring ultrasound to see where you're at. To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 10 or greater. More than likely, your doctor is choosing not to do a repeat u/s. The trigger shot is Human chorionic gonadotropin. It's a hormone that usually, our bodies will make once we are pregnant. But for those of us who have issues with ovulation, it is given to induce the release of the egg. As far as I know, it doesn't not grow the follicle more than it's already grown, but if given before you have mature follicles, it will do nothing for you. It seems to me that you should ask for a repeat u/s to measure those follicles. If your body is at all like mine, you need that trigger shot or those follicles will not release the egg, therefore turning into friendly cysts. As far as having three follicles, that shouldn't matter. When you start talking about injectables, some women have 6 follicles in one cycle and still trigger. So...my advice is to call your doctor and ask for a repeat u/s, unless your insurance won't cover it.

Thanks ladies what I am trying to say is that they are not even talking about a trigger shot or another sono that has got me worried, I was only 15cm last month too but asked me to come back 3 days later and it was mature so that is when they went ahead and gave me the trigger BUT this time she only said when you get your surge call us meaning so they can put it in my file/record I guess I will have to ask for another sono and be very persistant I guess..Because I can almost bet that my follies are matured I can feel it, I guess meaning being positive. Thanks I will call them first thing in the morning OR I might call today and leave it on the message incase they say ok come in for a follie check...wish me luck!!!!

I agree would see if they will do another u/s to see what those follies are doing. they are suppose to grow 1-2 mm per day but that doesn't always happen. good luck! i hope you get your bfp!

I see an RE why? I jsut am feeling like this nurse that came back is not interested in helping me progress. the other nurse that went on ML to have her baby was more like well come back in 3 days so we can see if the follies are growing this and that. But this nurse well she did this to me the first cycle (no clomid) and now this cycle like she wants to wait and see if my body respons ON IT'S OWN, and IT WONT!!!!!!!!! I am going to call today and leave a message to tell her I want a sono and if possible the trigger bcuz the pharmacy is right down the street!!! I want this so bad!

I don't know much about the trigger shot other than that it will cause ovulation to occur. My question is, does your doctor do the trigger? or is it something you get a prescription for and do yourself?

Some do it for you and some let you do it, in my case I pick it up and do it at home it's not bad at all either.
And yes I meant mm..on the follie sizes...LOL!!

Chula, I would definitely call and request another folllicle scan u/s. My doctor does the u/s every cycle, the nurse just assists during it. As much as nurses are great people, they are not as interested in your cycle as you or a doctor would be. I'm just surprised that they didn't offer another u/s to you. It makes no sense, especially knowing that you need the trigger to O.

Yep your right! She seems not interested at all I am sure she had heard it all with dealing with TTC but if she can't take each of us serious then sheis in the wrong profession I left a message hopefully she will call tommorow and i can go on tuesday or something. I had some kind of cramping on the right side this morning so who knows it just might be CD19 again for ovulation my chart is very weird this month for some reason...honestly though I still don't get my chart (what I am looking for, what this or that means) but I am not going to bug people to explain it to me all the time LOL!!
