Default Trigger Shot w/Clomid?

I have taken Clomid in the past, but never with a trigger shot. I start on 100mg Clomid Friday and I will go in on CD 13 for a U/S to monitor the follicles. The nurse said she would then either give me a trigger shot or tell me when to do it at home.

So what drugs are used as one-time trigger shots? What size do they like to see your follicles before you use the trigger? Does the trigger cause you to release more than one egg - like if you had 4 good sized follicles, is there a chance you'd release all of them?

The trigger deal is all new to me, so any info would be great! Thanks!

Default

I'm on my second clomid cycle w/ trigger shot. Basically what happens is I go in on CD 10, 12, and 14 for bloodwork and a sono. In the bloodwork they measure several things like progesterone and estradiol. They want the estradiol to be between 300 and 400. Right after getting blood drawn, I go in for a sono.

On the first day they usually get an idea of the sizes of the follicles and they see one that is a little larger than the rest, although they are all around the same size on me (The biggest being about 1.4cm this cycle). One follicle each month will likely shoot off and start growing while the rest just kind of go back to sleep. Sometimes you may see a couple more get bigger too, which is where the risk of multiples comes from). The second day you can usually see a nice increase and may be triggered. If the follies or blood test aren't about right on the second day, they have me come in on the 3rd day for more blood work and sono.

The short answer to your question is:
Estradiol has to be right around 300 to 400.
Follicles have to be about 1.8 - 2.2 cm.

Although if they see one number being very good but the other one not so good, they'll trigger you anyway.

My numbers this week have been:

Monday: Estradiol = 106, Largest Follicle = 1.4cm
Wednesday: Estradiol = 270, Largest Follicle = 1.8cm

They decided not to trigger me on Wednesday in the hopes that tomorrow we see them even higher.

Sorry for the super long reply and GOOD LUCK!!
