Default trouble eating

For the past couple of weeks I've been having trouble eating. Sometimes I will feel extremely hungry, but when I try to eat it's like I just can't get it down. Like tonight I had the taste for chicken and potato salad. Went out and bought it, took 3 bites of chicken (literally), and just couldn't eat anymore. Just smelling it made me nauseaus after I tried to eat it. It's gotten to the point that buying food is a waste of money (I'm single and no kids, so there's no one else in the house to eat it). The only thing I can really get down is salad, and that has gotten old. I know that I'm not pregnant (not even possible). So I was wondering if this is something that I should worry about or if it's just another PCOS thing to deal with. Has anyone else experienced this?

dasos,

have you recently started new medication or tried a new diet or made some other radical lifestyle change? It's very odd that your appetite just disappears like that for no reason...

Hi Japan,

I'm not on any meds. But I am taking the following supplements:

-multivitamin
-saw palmetto
-B complex

I've take chromium occassionally, but not on a daily basis.

When I've taken chromium it reduced my appetite considerably.

I have the same problem. I get a craving for something, cook it or buy it, take a bite or two and ugh... yuck...I just can't eat! I am taking Metformin.

stac, metformin does the same for me. It's an unfortunate side effect.

I had the same thing happen to me when I was first starting out on Metformin - but I didn't think it was all that 'unfortunate'. It helped curb my carb cravings and get some serious weight off.

dasos, has this been happening since you've started taking Chromium? Chromium does most of the things that Met does (from what I've read, but check the Alternative Remedies board), and that could be why your appetite seems to be MIA.

My appetite came back after a while, so maybe you just need to ride this out...

It cleared my brain fog, brought back af, helped me lose weight, made me o' again, and helped me get pregnant. My first Metformin miracle is now 3 years old, my second (surprise one) arrived December11!

Actually, I can't remember if this was happening before I started taking chromium or not. That could be it though. One good thing I have noticed is that I don't drink as much Coke as I used to. I'm trying to stop drinking it completely, but I seriously think I'm addicted to the stuff. I used to drink a whole 2 liter bottle in one day.

I have lost my appetite, which has made me eat less, which has caused me to lose weight.... (losing weight is nice) . I think maybe not eating enough is causing my dizziness and faint feeling.

I think my blood sugar is dropping really low, and at the same time food disgusts me most of the time. I just feel lousy. I am low-carbing too. I drink a diet coke once in a while, but mostly water.

I feel like I'm doing all I am supposed to do......... I just hope these side effects eventually go away and it will all be worth it after all.

Japan, I guess it's all about the degree of it. For me, I feel so lowsy I'm lucky if I eat 400 calories a day. Very very bad! So I've honestly been trying to keep my caloric intake up to at least 1000/day, which is hard. Between feeling nauseated and exhausted, there's not much time for anything else.

Yuck, I hope it goes away soon.
