Unhappy Trouble losing weight!!!**

Last year I was diagnosed with PCOS and was put on birth control (levlen & also spiro). At the time, I was also on Weight Watchers and managed to lose 70 lbs without any trouble. I stopped WW for a few months and maintained my current weight.. until I switched birth controls. I started taking Zovia.. and I gained back 16 lbs plus I can't seem to get rid of the weight. No matter what I do, how much I eat or don't, how much water I drink or how much I exercise, it's like it doesn't want to come off.

Could this actual be the birth control or another PCOS related problem?

It's just getting incredibly frustrating. I came back from my WW meeting this morning and burst into tears. For awhile I thought I wasn't being strict enough, but I know my body and I know this can't be normal.

Do I finish out this month's birth control then stop or should I just stop taking it now?

I'm calling my doctor and am going to arrange to get my bloodwork done again and see what could be causing this, but I just really want to see what you girls think.

*sigh*

If you can stick it our finish the month so you don't mess up your period. It could be possible that the pill is altering your hormones, thyroid or insulin enough to prevent weight loss as before. I know I carry extra weight on the pill and it is much harder to lose than when off. Definately call your doctor!

I know the feeling! I gained a significant amount of weight when I went on ortho-tricyclen, and could not lose it (and I was a dancer/athlete with a strict diet) until I finally stopped taking the pill after trying multiple brands in an attempt to find the right one. This is fairly common, as estrogen is closely tied to fat storage, and synthetic progesterone often increases insulin resistance. Definitely talk to your doctor about this... your treatment should make you feel better rather than worse!
