Default trouble taking deep breath when stressed

When i get stressed or am really tired i have problems takin a deep breath- i can't even yawn! you know how you breathe in (then out) when you yawn? i can't breathe in enough- so i have this yawn stuck in my throat lol. I had a pulmonary evaluation so its not asthma
Also, i read of brain fogs in a couple of posts... is this usual to pcos.. kinda being out of it... and then there are times i feel my heart beat hard against my chest like 3 or 4 times, then go back to normal. i read this in another post too..... anyone else??

It sounds like anxiety/panic to me. I'm the Queen of Anxiety, been battling it most of my life. The rapid or hard heart beat and shortness of breath sound like it to me. Learning breathing techniques help with those symptoms.

There is a great book, The Phobia and Anxiety Workbook by Dr. Bourne is the best I have found. It's very technical but covers every kind of anxiety problem know to man. There are also lots of anxiety websites that explain it too.

Check into it. Take care.

I agree with the above. When I am having an attack sometimes it feels like I forget or just plain cant breathe. Its so scary. When I can actually force myself to breath (I put peppermint oil under my nose and on my neck and my temples take a washclose and breathe in and try and relax it does help me a little

i used to have anxiety attacks daily in college, but at a higher level. I would shake, heart would beat hard and i couldn't breathe- this lasted a few minutes though. Thanks for the book reference, i need some ideas as to where to turn :-)
