Post trying to understand my blood sugar levels tonight

I just started glucophage xr(500mgs per evening meal)the other night and about an hour after taking it i had a massive hypoglycemia reaction and had to keep injesting sugar to feel better.Well tonight i went to my mother-in-laws house and i had her check my blood sugar at 6:00 tonight (one hour after eating dinner and taking my glucophage)my blood sugar was 130 and for me this was high because iam hypoglycemic and my blood sugar level is 90-100 at it's highest. So anyway i had her check it again at 8:00 tonight and it was 70!!!! I felt very lousy and i knew that i was having a low blood sugar for me.I get shaky and feel like junk if it gets below 80.So i had to drink orange juice to make myself better.I just dont understand this at all.Glucophage is not supposed to lower blood sugar right? So what is my problem?I am not diabetic or ir but i do have reactive hypoglycemia and my dietician and doctor thought that gluc would help prevent my lows from happening after eating.I've felt horrible since being on the gluc and i've only taken 2 pills so far!!!Can anybody help me out here?Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.I'm thinking of calling it quits with this stuff.

Smile

Glucophage/metformin is perscribed for diabetics to lower sugar levels, as well as given for people with PCOS.

I would go back to your doctor and get advice.

sorry i cant be more help.

Good luck.
