Default Is TSH=1.06 OK when pr?

I left a message for my thyroid doc but he's away... does anyone know if a TSH of 1.06 is OK? I just found out that I am pr and concerned that all my levels are OK. Thanks.

Louie,

I don't know about the levels of TSH being OK, but I just wanted to say that I've got my fingers crossed for you with this pregnancy. I saw your siggy...I'm so sorry for all your losses...

I, of course, cannot speak for your dr, but 1.06 should be an OK place to start. You should have your TSH levels checked at least once per trimester (more often if you have any hyper- or hypo- symptoms start bothering you). When I found out I was pregnant last December, my TSH was 8.x and they upped my meds. I miscarried in early February. At my next check TSH was .01 so they lowered my meds. Then TSH went back up to around 8 so they upped the meds again, but not as high as before. Last test, TSH was 3.2 and doc was OK with that for now. Since I'm feeling OK, I won't argue, but I'll be paying attention to how I'm feeling and make sure to get rechecked, if/when needed.

TSH is not the best indication of thyroid status during pregnancy. Look at FREE T4 and FREE T3 numbers instead. FT4 should be in upper quadrant of range, FT3 in midrange.

Shenacat!

Girl you are up on your thyroid info! I envy you! I have to get on the ball with this stuff, write it all down and bug the heck out of my endo!

Thanks so much for all the info!

I totally agree! Shenacat, you're quite the expert. I did not have free T3 or T4 done, but my doc was OK with the TSH. He said it was perfect but he wants me tested monthly for a while to be safe.
