My TSH came back at 2.42 My Endocrinologist says that this is normal. I have symptoms of Hypothyroid. Is this a normal test result?

i hate to say this but i don't know if that is normal. I also know that he's probably reading exactly what the lab sent back which would mean that you fall with in their normal range. Each lab is different.
For example for me, according to my labs, i have normal female hormonal levels, and only slightly high male hormone levels, yet i have no period with out provera, and i'm growing a mustach and a goattee..........this isnt' normal ! but according to the labs it is normal.......and the endo is telling me that.
I would ask to be sent to another lab and have it re checked or look up what is normal ranges for TSH levels.

I think that is in the "Normal" range if not even a bit low. But new studies have shown that each person is different and if you have ALL the syptoms of hypothyriodism they need to evaluate you further. Drs need to start treating our symptoms and not the lab ranges. Here are a couple links to a really great read. If you think there is a problem go to a different DR, you can search for one on this site also. This is where I found my endo..he is the BEST!!! He also diagnosed my diabetes!!
If you are truly symptomatic, that TSH could be abnormal *for you*. If you need a second opinion, find a doctor who will do a full thyroid panel with Free T3, Free T4, and anti-thyroid antibodies. If these levels are abnormal, then you could be ill without it showing much in your TSH.

Thank you all for your replies. I will do more reading. I am also anemic, I have found out that a lot of the Hypothyroidism symptoms are similiar to those of anemia. It is a horrrible feeling not being able to completely trust your Doctors. I use to, I guess that's why I wasn't diagnosed with PCOS until the age of 35.

I also battle chronic anemia. My ferritin is always low. I take Slow FE which is a time-release iron. It works great for me. You can find it at drugstore.com.

Hey,my TSH just came back 2.7 with T4 1.59 and T3 121. Is that normal? My T3 is at its lowest ever. I was dead-dog tired that day; 's why I made her draw the blood.

We kind of need the lab ranges for your specific lab. Usually when you request copies of your lab tests, they give you a sheet which includes lab ranges.
