I need some help from my cysters, especially anyone who knows about TSH. I am so confused...
My TSH was 4 (slightly hypo) after my first m/c, and so I was put on 100 mg of synthroid. After I got pr, they retested and TSH was .2 (slightly hyper) and this made sense cause when you're pr you tend to get hyperthyroidism. My meds were lowered to 25 mg synthroid.
Now, after the 2nd m/c, I had TSH tested after taking a much lower dose and its even worse - only .015! That seems like major hyperthyroidism. My prolactin level, on the other hand was down from 48 to 30 (only one point above the labs normal range). Anyone know what's going on with me and whether hyperthyroidism could have contributed to my m/c?

I don't know of an answer from personal experience, but I found this article on the web. It talks about after a women gives birth, but I thought it (the body's reponse to hormones) would be similiar. I hope it helps. If I find others, I will just add them here. I hope someone can give you definite answers.

Ok I have to tell you, WHILE PG my TSH was 2.5 which is high for me, I am closely monitored on my meds to keep my tsh about 1 or 1.4 at HIGHEST.
You get HYPO while PG!!
Then after my m/c my thyroid BOUNCED hyper - it DOES that - but it calms down eventually!! It's the hormone withdrawal.... during PG your thyroid is stressed by extra hormones (estrogen binds to thyroid hormone making it unavailable to the body so the thyroid freaks out and starts producing a lot) and then when you're not pg anymore, there's no extra hormones, but your thyroid is a SLOW SLOW organ and takes a little while to realize that and stop overproducing.
It's normal for us.... girls with thyroid problems. It will balance out and you'll need more meds again.
