Well, i'm 21, & at the beginning of last year i was dealt the bludgeoning news that I had PCOS on both ovaries & 3/3 hormones were too high!
Anyways, i met my boyfriend in December & we decided we would start tryin for a baby ASAP, so we started in March!!
Nothing has happened yet but i have had 3 regular periods, which is very odd! LOL, as i have never been regular unless controlled with a contraceptive pill???
So . . been trying for over 3 months now (& wasn't careful beforehand either) but docs said to go back when been trying for 6 months as my case is severe?
So . . i'm going back to docs end of this month to get referred back to my gynaecologist who discovered i had PCOS, but i'm looking for advice really??
What more can I do to get pregnant????
Without being too graphic . . we have sex nearly every night & i've laid with my pelvic raised & legs in the air many nights now!
I'm not fat & i don't have excess hair growth (apart from maybe a whisker on my chin) hahahaha <-- see funny side . .
No1 quite understands that this is gunna be a long process, but I couldn't be more desperate for a baby now, which i know causes pressure & stress and won't help My boyfriend knows its hit & miss and we just have to see what happens, but everybody around me is having babies now 2, so even more heart-break ???
I play football, so am active, so what else can I do??
I hope you can help people!
And sorry I havent been on here for a while, couldn't remember my password

Im sorry i cant really give you much advice, but i think the way forward is to find out why your not getting pregnant, but then again many couples who dont have fertilty problems dont get pregnant for the 1st year anyways,
I hope you get your BFP soon

I can't conceive because I have PCOS, as said above, so i'm confused now! I was wondering if people could advise on anything else that can help me to conceive whilst I wait for my referral 2 gynaecologist?

Well, you could see if your doctor would be willing to prescribe metformin (some will and some won't). Low carbing worked well for me. Has the doctor conclusively proved you're not ovulating he would do this by checking your progesterone levels at a certain point in your cycle?
Hi,
Just wanted to wish you best wishes with trying to concieve, and just wanted to say that 3 months is no length of time to try. Give yourself a year of just chilling out and see what happens as you do have youth on your side. I know your hormones are a bit out but sometimes nature takes over and we get our little miracle. Maybe if in a year things are still the same you could visit a gyny or endocrinologist.
Hope you both get your wish soon.

Just wanted to wish you luck with everything. The best thing to do is keep trying! By the sounds of it you are doing everything right, so I guess its just a waiting game! But that being said, when I was TTC I would have sex every other day until just before I was going to ovulate, then I would do it everyday for the next week. It gives the sperm a chance to build up again. Hope that helps!! Good luck
xxxx

Thanks for the replies guys!
With response to "dillydaydreams", my gyno said DO NOT try for more than 6 months, without gettin help, so to go a year with no help is out of the question.
Janine . . Your advice makes a lot of sense, but how do i know when i'm ovulating?? Because i've never been regular or anything?? How many days after your last period ends? Can you tell via that?? I have read about the thicker mucus thing, well that was last week LOL, so guess im not ovulating now??

Hi Amy, My advice is that you really discuss this closely with your Gyn. Did your Gyn say anything after confirming that you have pcos?
In my case, the moment I’m confirmed with pcos, they advised me to a fertility specialist (because I told them that I’m ttc). The Fert.specialist prescribed me Clomid to help me ovulate (my period is also very irregular), as well as u/s every 4-5 days to check if the Clomid helped to grow my follicles.
Normally they will start with low dose of clomid (50 mg) and will gradually increase it the dose in the next cycle if it doesn’t help you ovulate. With me, my fertility specialist planned to try 3 cycles with Clomid, and if it doesn’t work, they will move me to injectibles (where I have to inject myself every morning with hormone). Luckily I ovulated in the 3rd Clomid cycle and it led me to this pregnancy!!
I don’t know how if it will be easy to get to a fertility specialist in the UK (I heard about how annoying NHS can be – my DH is Scottish), but I imagine that your Gyn should be able to prescribe medication & monitor your follicle growth just the same.
This is just one way of getting pregnant – I agree with previous posts to check out the TTC Board. There are many other alternatives in getting pregnant in case you don’t want to take medications.
Good luck & hope you get the BFP soon!

Sounds like you probably did ovulate last week then. You ovulate 2 weeks before your period. But with PCOS it can be hard to tell with irregular cycles The clomid sorted them out for me though, and on day 21 of each cycle I had a blood test to see if I had ovulated. Most women have 28 day cycles and so would ovulate day 14, but I was having 30 day cycles so ovulated day 16 of each month. A lot of cysters chart using a BBT thermometer, but I have no idea how to do it! There are plenty of buddy threads in the TTC section on the subject though! Hope that helps, keep us posted on how you get on!!

I know this might sound daft but also you need to try and stop thinking about becoming pregnant. I was literally on my second from last course of clomid 100mg and still nothing. Dh and i were practically giving up the fact of us becoming parents and then back in November i find out i am pregnant. We had been trying for six years, and the last year was clomid.
Good luck in TTC

Hi Again.
Sorry your case is so severe. I suppose the best thing is listen to your gyny, I only meant try to relax a bit as you are very young. I know what it is like to want a baby, been there, for me it took 9 years of TTC, 7 rounds of clomid, and 1 go of IVF. I was passed from piller to post before I got answers, was attending A&E for 5 yrs before been diagnosed with endometriosis in 1999, then PCOS 2001 after I decided I would go private to see a gyny who a friend recommended. I was so glad I did as he referred me to fertility clinic, where I finally got all the answers, and my precious son who is 2 yrs old now.
Your doctor/gyny sounds like he knows what he is talking about, so I am sure he/she will lead you in the right direction.
I hope you get your wish soon.
Best wishes and baby dust to you.
