I posted this at TTC and am getting no response,
Maybe this is a better place.....
Anyone here tried after a D & C......

How long after a D & C will it take for the pregnancy hormones in my body to go away?
I had a D & C done at 12 weeks (in Nov.).

I ask because I have had a period and am expecting another on Friday, but if no show for AF then of course I will test (HPT) - not sure if the test will be accurate or not due to my recent loss..........(don't want to falsely get my hopes up!)

We aren't technically TTC until Feb (doc advised to wait) but I want to know when the test will reflect the truth just incase we get a pleasant surprise in the meantime!

Hi Kiki,

I am so sorry to hear of your loss.

I had a D&C, and then TTC after I had 2 AF's (per my doc's instructions).
I had a missed m/c at 9 weeks, found out at 14.5 weeks, and had a D&C. I am sure that if I would have done an HPT anytime after 10 or 11 weeks it would have been negative, since the placenta stops producing hCG as soon as the pregnancy stops.

The pregnancy hormone, hCG, starts to decrease right away. I can't remember exactly how long it takes, but I think that it is totally out of your system after 1 week, maybe after 2 weeks, and is for sure all out of your system by now.
When you start testing your results should be accurate, as long as the test is not faulty.

I hope you have great success as you start TTC again. I hope you get that BFP soon.

Sorry about your loss - so hard around the holidays.

If you've had a period, your HCG should be completely gone, so any hormone that shows up on a HPT should be new. Good luck!

I never had my numbers checked after my losses. My first was at 10w5d and I had a D&E. I conceived about 3 weeks later (based on signs of O). I did lose that baby as well, this time a blighted ovum at 8 weeks. I was told it had nothing to do with getting pg on my first cycle. After the second loss we waited until I had a period to try, and we got pg that second cycle (first of trying). I am 5.5 weeks along now. I had had a successfull pregnancy before my mc's, which is why they think my mc's are unrelated.

Good luck with your decisions for when to start again.
