Default Ttc again advice please

Hi ladies,

I am miscarrying at the moment. I have been bleeding for two weeks now and am hoping the bleeding is coming to an end. My doctor has refused to scan me yet so I really dont know what is going on but the blood loss appears to be turning brown so I hope that is a good sign.

My question is when will be new cycle begin and when will I be fertile again. Is it possible that I could have started a new cycle already even though I am still bleeding and even though HPTs are still faintly positive? Is it possible to get pregnant again and still be getting a positive HPT.

Sorry to ask so many questions but I haven't been scanned or have any blood tests since I was told I was going to miscarry 5 weeks ago so I am a little in the dark. Should I take the first day of bleeding as day 1 of my cycle or does it not work like that when you are miscarrying?

Sam

Hugs Sam! I know the feeling, I have had two miscarriages in the last 7 months. Sorry your Dr won't scan you. There is a risk of infection if the bleeding continues and all of the tissue does not pass. Are you still cramping?

Most women are fertile in the first cycle, but the risk of another miscarriage is also high. I would suggest waiting at least one cycle to TTC. I wait 2 cycles. And this time it was almost three since AF had to be forced with Provera.

Good luck in whatever you decide. I have learned you need to be informed and demand treatments if they do not give them after you have requested and they dismiss you. A lot of treatments can only help, not harm. Like taking Progesterone next time you get a BFP.

Hang in there and pamper yourself.

(((Hugs))) to you, Sam.

If your doc refuses to scan you, how will he/she know that everything is "out"? Just curious; I think he/she could be a little more proactive about this!

I had a D&C, and was told to count the day of the D&C as Day 1 of my cycle. And sure enough, I o'd on my own, with no meds, exactly 21 days after the D&C. I am not sure how to do it for a natural m/c, though.

I have read that you will have your first period 4-6 weeks after your miscarriage... sometimes written as "after the bleeding stops..." ... sometimes written as 4-8 weeks!!!

It all seems kind of vague to me and when you add the fact of PCOS and ovulation/menstruation being kinda rare to begin with into the equation (at least for me...) ... well I have no idea what to expect.

I guess it depends on a lot of variables...

I have only been bleeding for 3 days and it is very much period-like. I know for sure I passed the sac on the first day, I hope everything is coming out that should be coming out. I plan to get a bunch of cheapie HPTs and OPKs and to use the OPKs once the HPTs are BFN. I don't *really* hope to see ovulation this cycle but who knows?

I am pretty sure you won't ovulate until the HCG is all gone but I really don't know. And I think the length of time it can take to all be gone varies tremendously.

I know a girl who started clomid on day 3 of her miscarriage bleed and got pregnant that cycle. I don't know if her HCG dropped miraculously fast or if the clomid over rides the HCG or if she was just going to O that cycle anyway...

I don't think there is any way for anyone to tell you what will happen... just wait and see. And it stinks, doesn't it?

I hope your bleeding stops soon and you get nice fertility vibes coming your way!

Sorry if TMI...

I had a natural m/c and bled for about 2 weeks. A few times I thought it was stopping (lighter flow and/or a bit more brown) and then it kicked back in. I thougth I had passed the sac early (a very large clot looking thing) but I didn't actually pass it until about a week in. It was easier to tell in hindsight, but horrifying at the time. Mercifully my beta zeroed out right as the bleeding stopped.

They told me to expect AF 4-6 weeks after the bleeding stopped. I had not been regular and had been doing medicated TTC. AF arrived 32 days later, and again 32 days after that... I don't know if I O'd or not.

They did not want me to TTC again until I had 2-3 natural cycles. They didnt' want to add meds to the mix right away.

If AF had not arrived by 6 weeks they would have done b/w to make sure I was not pg, and then induced with prometrium.

They planned to do b/w once a week until my beta dropped.

If they won't scan you ask for b/w... it's important to know that everything came out.

As for TTC again... I wanted to get started asap. I called on my second AF and started again.

I am very sorry for your loss. I hope things go quickly for you, both for the m/c and for TTC again.

Hugs,
-Tia

Thanks for your responses ladies.

I believe I passed the sac 4 days ago and since then the bleeding has turned brown. So I am going to count the day I passed the sac as day 1. As my periods are so irregular anyway it probably won't make any difference. Hopefully the HCG will soon be out of my system.

My doctor (a recurrent miscarriage specialist) told me there was no need to wait to ttc so I am going to take his advice and see what happens - always was impatient!
