Awh what a lovely pic with your daughter Dani, soooo 80s ! Saying that all these fuchsia colours seem to be back in fashion lately! Great idea about the Dolorean!

Sa - CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR ENGAGEMENT !!!

Re the OPKs, I just wanted to add a few things to what Dani already said. I too start OPKs at about CD9-CD10. The best time to test is between 10am and 8pm, and some say at around 2pm is ideal. I may be OTT but what I do, to be sure I don't miss anything, is I test every time I go to the toilet after 10am and before 8pm. But of course if you are at work it may not be ideal... At least twice a day is said to be ideal though or you could miss the LH surge otherwise (maybe that is made up by companies that sell the tests though so we use more... who knows!).

Did you get the "pee on the stick" ones (more expensive) or the strips you just dip for a few seconds? On eBay you can get really cheap strips (I usually buy about 50 in one go).

Everyone says that with PCOS you tend to get false positive OPKs as we have a tendency of having high LH anyways, but in my case I never had a real positive OPKs, but by using them very often, and keeping them in order, I can see a pattern that the test line is getting much darker, which this month helped me pinpoint ovulation, together with BBT. (Of course I'll throw them away at the end of the cycle...)

Hope this helps xxx

I dont use the clear blue ones Sarah, i use the cheapies off the internet, you get like 20 for 99p!!! SO i have no idea why you didnt get any lines.....with mine you dip em in the wee for 10 seconds then you have to wait about 5 minutes for the results. I keep getting one control line and a very light test line.....grrr why cant it get darker!!!! lol

Maria how are you?

Hows everyone else??

Leanne - hope all ok with you honey xx

Well had my specialist today, and what a waste of time, the lady is the loveliest lady i have ever met and she wants to help so much but there is nothing else they can do. Im not allowed any more clomid. So if this cycle doesnt work thats it. She said i can go for IUI but it starts at like 800 quid for one cycle and right now we cant afford that. Sooooo this is it!! my last cycle on clomid......i have no idea what to think im just kinda scared right now xxxx hugs girls xxxx

Hello everyone How are you all? Leanne, how are you feeling being pregnant?

Sa - when I first bought OPKs I got pee on a stick ones like you (you can get these on eBay too for cheaper, if you prefer them to the thin strips that Dani and I use).

The reason why you did not see any line is that you probably also peed on the little "window" where you usually see the two lines... it happened to me (as it's hard to aim... sorry TMI). So for the ones you have left from Clearblue, maybe pee in a little container and then dip the "pee on a stick" for a few seconds. They are too expensive to be wasted, lol.

For the future, I would suggest you get them online cheaper... so you can use 2 a day at different times.

Dani - I get the same, never a truly dark test line, but I keep them everyday and try to follow a pattern to see when they get the darkest.

Also, I am really sorry to hear this will be your last Clomid round. I can understand your sadness and hope that somehow you manage to ovulate. Maybe in the future you could try Agnus Castus (it's a natural herb, often called Chastetree Berry or Vitex on here, very cheap and you can buy it at Holland & Barrett), I believe it is what made me ovulate this past cycle, with Metformin!

I am at the end of this cycle, don't think I am pregnant despite my hopes, and am waiting for my AF so I can start Femara CD3-7 (Fempro, bought online). I hope all will be ok...

Apart from that I am fine... although sad as today I took my lovely tiny Belle (my cat) to be spayed... her brother Tinker was neutered already after he impregnated her (all 7 kittens were born premature with problems and died, it was horrible)!!! We are picking her up in a few minutes, I hope she'll be ok

Speak soon xxx

Hi Dani, I bought Femara/Letrozole (as Fempro, 2.5mg) and Prometrium (as Microgest, 200mg caps) online from www.inhousepharmacy.co.uk, but it came from abroad. You are allowed to buy prescription meds from abroad but had to pay customs charges. I bought 50 of each (so at least 3 cycles if using 7.5mg Fempro). Came to less than £120 including all charges and customs, which is less than just one private consultation (that's how I saw it for my own choice).

I know not everyone would do that but I will be put on Clomid end Jan just for 3 months and have a feeling it will not work, so wanted to try something with less side effects first and also because I am impatient... xxx

PS: Did your doctor say it was a big no because of the birth defects risk? From what I have read that is only the case if it is taken whilst pregnant, i.e. you would need to be 200% sure you are not pregnant before starting it again. The birth defects were more of a risk in breast cancer patient that were taking the Femara whilst being pregnant and not knowing it.... but to me that is a similar thing to Provera, which my own GP said was ok to take whilst TTC...! xxx

Hey guys
I'm pretty new to all this but thought I'd say hello. Sorry, been a bit nosey and had a read of your posts!!
Me: I'm 28 and been ttc since April so not long by comparison to some of the rest of you. Haven't 'officially' been diagnosed with PCOS but was told by my family doc when I was 15 that I had PCOS and probably would never be able to have a baby - was gutted. Obviously I know that is not the case but it's always been at the back of my mind. Been off the pill since April and AF has not graced me with her presence just yet (haven't had AF naturally in 13 years). I did think she was here last week but turned out it was only a bit of spotting. Because it's only been since April since AF my doc won't do anything - I've got to wait a year before they'll do all tests though the FP nurse did sneak through some blood tests. It looks as though I've got mainly normal levels of everything apart from progesterone which is a bit low - don't know what the readings were, I was too scared/confused to ask!!! Doc advised to start doing BBT so giving that a bash - does it need to be done at the same time every day though - usually just do it before I get up, which is normally between 7-8am?
Back to one of the older posts - there does seem to be a bit of a baby boom recently. So many people I know are either pregnant or just had a baby plus every day I nip to the shops I see someone pregnant, so unfair!!!
Anyhow, sorry for rambling on.
Denise x

Hi Denise, welcome to this thread Where are you from?

I know in the UK GPs want to see you TTC for at least a year before doing something about it... BUT it is not healthy not to have a period since April (6/7 months!), as I've found out reading many many posts. Also, I think that charting your BBT is a bit pointless if you don't know where you are in your cycle and have not had a period for so long...

Maybe you could ask your GP to prescribe you Provera to induce your periods, and then start charting BBT from the first day of your periods? I think that taking your BBT between 7-8am every day should be fine, but am quite new myself to it.

As for low progesterone, I had a level of less than 1 nmol/L (I think?) twice and was told it meant I was not ovulating, which seems to match your situation. This month I think I ovulated and will find out what my prog level was on Thursday.

Hope this helps I have found so much useful info on here and hope you will too xxx

Thanks Maria - I'm living in the midlands.

I think doctors don't really seem to want to listen and it's not classed as being high on their lists of priorities which for us is a major pity. I've told the doc all my AF issues and he has said that due to the length of time I've spent on the pill it could take a long time for AF to visit. Was off the pill about 6 years ago for about a year and AF didn't make an appearance, although I'm hoping this time will be different - I'm about 3.5 stone lighter than I was then. I swear my doc uttered something like it could take 2 years for AF but surely that's just crazy?! I'm hoping, if nothing happens before, when I go back in April he'll prescribe me something to get things started. I like your idea of going in to the doc with a list of things to ask - my head gets so fuzzy and I feel like a school kid again and end up forgetting all that I wanted to ask!

Wow, only 6 months!!! That's good going. Nope, foolishly I hadn't really thought about changing doctors but I guess you're right, might be worth a try. I did ask the nurse who was the best doctor to see about fertility problems and she said none of them really specialised, the doctor who did left about 2 months before I started ttc. I might have a word with friends and see if any can recommend a someone.

Hello again Denise, are you from near Derby or Nottingham? I used to live there

Where you go are there several GPs? As Dani said, maybe you could try another GP at your practice or even change practice (maybe check their GPs qualifications first on the NHS website before changing, i.e. if any has a specialisation from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG), two have this at my practice). I feel I lost a lot of time because I did not dare to "push" my GP or change him. I know what you mean about the fuzzyness! I know I will only be given a few mins and my mind goes blank after the first question, so I now have a small dotted list in my hands to glance at. Also I used to opnly go to the GP once a year or less... now I try to go more often so there is less issues in one go.

I'd insist on getting Provera or Norethisterone now to get AF as more than 6 months without and the build-up is not healthy for you.

Good night x
