my2babies: based on whose standards? the city of chicago? state of illinois? I can't imagine why they would be in my house but if they were they wouldn't do anything because these are not foster/adoptive children which are held to the highest standard. If my memory serves me correct (been a while since i was an adoption specialist) the room has to be 90sq ft for one child and 45 additional sq ft per aditional person which means for 3 children it would have to be 180sq ft or 13' x 14' .... which their room is not. It is smaller, probably 13' x 10' or something similar to that. certainly by the time the youngest is 5 they will have a larger or separate bedroom but definitely not by the time DD#1 is 5. One half of us is still a student and we pass that buck back and forth. I am completely done now and DW has law school left. We plan to be done with schooling by 2013 which would make DD#1 6, DD#2 4, and DC#3 (who I hope and pray is a DS) between 2-3. I really don't want to move before then but we always play things by ear. Right now it's still a good fit.
the sheets are retro rocket sheets and they would be special order because i have only found them from a place that takes their various fabrics and makes them into sheets. We get the girls' stuff from Pottery Barn Kids and I really like their plane set for boys but can't remember the name of that one.

Im sorry if I offended you. I was only going by the standards the State of Florida had as of 4 years ago when I worked for the Department of children and families. I wasnt saying anything bad about you or dw. I guess I went about asking the wrong way. I apologise.
I cant get over those sheets. I showed dh, and he said they looked like something out of the 50's. He loves them. He said he wants something like that if we have a boy again. They are just the cutest ever!!

lol I love it too. I ran across it because I had an obsession with finding a vintage airplane set (which i could never find one i truly loved) but fell in love with this pattern. We do these Story of Me baby books for the kids and they have one with the retro rocket pattern... in love.

Thanks! DD1 is doing well with it. She thinks the baby belongs to her and we pretty much go with that and only intervene if it can hurt the baby. Things are actually going pretty well now that we've adjusted to two.

Hey everyone. It's been awhile since I've been on the thread. Congrats to all on the newest editions.
My DW and I have been TTC since Feb. I was DX in Aug 07 with PCOS. I'd be the one carrying. We've tried 2 cycles of IUI's (2 each cycle) and haven't lucked out yet. We have a DS (adopted) who is 4. He wants a baby sister so bad. I keep trying to change his mind to baby brother, but he's not having it! I don't know what I'll do it if's a girl! Ha! Kidding of course. We have been TTC without any meds. We're going to try once more in June, then likely move on to IVF. I guess I just figured if it's meant to happen without meds, then it would. We're both kinda free spirited like that. So far we've been happy with our bank, Cryos New York. What banks did you guys use or did you have a known donor?
If anyone would like to be on my MySpace friends list, plz pm me your myspace info so I can add you. I'd love to chat with you guys on there, if ya want. Thnx!!
Anyone??

I posted this in the main thread but thought I'd get more help here. I'm trying to conceive, but am single. My best friend and I are not in a romantic relationship but he is trying to help me conceive. I omitted in the main thread that I am a lesbian and he is a gay male. We are not having sex - he is giving me his sperm and I am using a needleless syringe to get it up there.
I have PCOS and always thought my biggest barrier would be the weird cycles. After trying four times to get pregnant, I needed a break to give myself some psychological healing time. I had about 4 months off and thought I was ready to try again, but wanted to make sure I was empowered with knowledge this time. I bought OPK tests and have tried to find out all about this cervical mucus. I just never seem to have any of this egg white mucus that everyone talks about all over the internet. They talk about it as though it's so obvious you'd be blind to miss it. I'm 26 so should have a lot of this apparently.
Does PCOS impact on the egg white cervical mucus?
My OPKs are always coming up negative, but I've only started doing them.
I do some overnight work and have irregular work hours so BBT charting is not really an option for me. Or is it?
I hate knowing all these acronyms. I wish it were unnecessary for us all.
Ashley: my wife and i conceived our first doing saliva monitoring with Ovulite and making sure O occurred with BBT. Unfortunately the OPKs can be utterly useless for some cysters as it was for us because the hormonal stuff that goes on can cause false positives and negatives. We have never gotten a positive OPK except when triggering with HCG which is known to give positives on OPKs. Regarding BBT - it is only helpful to let you know that you already ovulated. You can do BBT but you have to be creative. The idea is that you take it at exactly the same time every day after at least three hours of sleep. So if you know you go to bed between 6-9am every day and sleep until 2-3pm every day then you would want to set an alarm for 1pm every day to take your temp because on all days you would have bee n asleep for at least three hours but would not have awakened for the day. It is really important not to do anything aside from grabbing the thermometer before taking your temp. If you O you should see a sustained rise of between .03 and .10 for 3 days (that level should continue until nearing AF or after she has started). If there is a day when you really cannot take it at the same time, mark it down and if you are using a program tell it to disregard that day. Regarding the egg white cervical mucous... if you are ovulating and not on fertility drugs you should see egg white cervical mucous and I think it should be pretty obvious. If you are not seeing it and are getting AF regularly then it might be more subtle. When it is subtle it kind of stretches across the toilet paper but there are not gobs and gobs of it. My honest recommendation to anyone is that if you have insurance - particularly if you are gay and wont be introduced to sperm every other day - go see an RE. There is really no reason to wait when you have PCOS. If your insurance only covers OB's they can *prescribe clomid which is on Walmart's $4 plan - I believe. There are two products you can look into for cervical mucous issues and they are preseed and mucinex... I have heard tons and tons of success stories with the former! Hope that helps.

Hi Bree and Izy, thanks so much for your reply And congrats on conceiving
I'm from NZ so we don't really have health insurance here - I wish we did though. Contrary to the picture Mike Moore paints, socialised health care isn't the greatest thing out. It's not very helpful when you need something non urgent done. Wonderful in emergencies though, so I won't complain too much.
The saliva monitoring sounds interesting - I had a look around on the internet and it talks about fern patterns. Are the fern patterns not affected by out of whack hormones?
I just bought a BBT online, but then realised it said that it gave results to 1/100 of a degree, but had an error range up to 0.1 degrees (celcius). Doh!!!
