Post TTC and frustrated!

Hi!

I am a 29 year old thin cyster. I have been trying to get pregnant for the past 9 months! I started with 50mgs of Clomid and worked my way up to 150mg. I believe I may have ovulated with 150mgs. But the doctor switched me to Metformin saying that my ovualtion wasn't fertile enough!? Now I am on Met (1000mg) and Clomid (150mg). What combo of meds have some of you tried tc? Has anyone had a great experience with Met? If so, how many mgs were you taking? Thanks for reading this! This process of ttc has been very frustrating!!!!

Welcome to SoulCysters, Jonesiez! I hope you find some answers and friends here.

I can't really answer all your questions from personal experience (I haven't tried Met.), but I can try to help. I have heard of many cysters getting PG on Clomid & Met together. Some cysters stay on Met through the PG to prevent miscarriage, too. Here's a link I got from another thin cyster who had a baby boy in December: http://blues.fd1.uc.edu/~gartsips/polycyst.htm

What makes you say "I _may_ have ovulated with 150mg"? Did your doctor do any kind of monitoring to determine if you did? What kind of doctor are you seeing?

Most of the cysters around here would highly recommend that you go to a Reproductive Endocrinologist (RE) from the beginning--they are usually more knowledgeable about PCOS than an OB/GYN, even ones who "specialize" in infertility. My husband and I have our first appt with an RE on Tues, I wish I had gone earlier (we did 3 Clomid cycles with our GP), but DH pointed out that at least we're going now (instead of waiting any longer). There was a 6-week wait between my call and the first available appt. (I've actually heard that this is a relatively short wait...and I know this RE is good, I've heard some personal recommendations).

Well, sorry to babble on so. If you don't get a good response here, try posting in the TTC forum or the Metformin forum.
