Default TTC - Leave in Belly Button Ring, or Take Out?

Hi,

I took out my belly button ring a few days ago, since I've recently started ttc more seriously. I thought this might lessen the chances of getting a big scar from a growing belly... but now I'm wondering if it's better to leave it in and get a maternity ring for when I do get pregnant (they make longer flexible bars for pregnant women).

I'm guessing it doesn't matter what you do, there will be scarring regardless, but if anyone has advice, I'd love to hear it!!

Ha ha -- this is a funny question to me b/c I always said I would leave in my ring until pg and showing, then would take it out. I've heard from some pg ladies that their hole moves way up on their belly when it's big! I had to take mine out for my surgery and haven't put it back in. Not sure if I'm going to. I'm interested to hear other ppls' thoughts...

I took mine out a few years ago when I decided to be a 'grownup' with my first 'grownup' job. But I still have the holes. I'll say, as a VERY pregnant lady, that I would think that having the ring in while big would not be very comfortable. But I have a weird belly button issue and the feel of my inner belly button just creeps me out (which is now no longer inner belly button, but poking out!).

Obviously the holes move up, since your whole belly moves up, and the skin in between the 2 holes stretches out. I don't know about getting a scar from it, though, unless the skin gets so tight that it tears the holes.

I took mine out, but my bellybutton completely pops out when I'm pregnant, so I can't imagine having it in. But yep... its the only place i ended up with a small stretchmark and scarring.

I left mine in until I was about 26 weeks pregnant. I put in a maternity one a few weeks before but it was sore and started to catch on things. I don't think it looks bad right now and I should be able to get it in when when I am ready. I don't think you need to take it out during ttc since you already have the holes it will do the same thing when you get pregnant either way.

Good luck and I hope you get your BFP soon!
