Hi all. I am talking to my doc today about Met. My GTT was normal, but I still have a feeling it will help. I recently had two m/c and after a battery of tests and procedures, everything checks out. So why did I m/c? Im thinking it was my hormones.
My question is, have you m/c before then get put on Met even though your not IR? If so, how much did you start out on?
Im back in the TTC game, just finished clomid and want to start Met asap. I have read alot of research articles on Met and how there are studies linking it to m/c prevention in women with PCOS that are not "IR". I know Im just getting my hopes up, but there has to be some reason I lost two angels right?
Thanks all!

Hi, sorry for your losses. I have not m/c but I was recently put on Metformin. I started getting periods for the first time ever on Metformin 750mg ER this summer. We were ttc#2 and was hoping to see results but nothing happened. I was put on Clomid and went through 2 failed cycles when I asked my ob about increasing my Met dosage. She did not believe that I would benefit from increasing. Like you, I did a lot of reserach on-line about Metformin and talked to many cysters from another board I go to who have had success on higher doses of Met.
Long story short, I decided to up my dose to 1500mg in October. Nov 4th I got a BFP. I can not say enough about the wonders of Metformin. I am also not IR and I had to go through IVF with my first pg. I wish I had been more informed about Metformin back then. Guess things happen for a reason.
I do believe that Met will help you not m/c. And, hey, you are not just getting your hope up for nothing. It can happen! Best wishes for a successful Met cycle.
Thanks Soyna. I went to the PA today and he agreed to Rxing it to me. so I am starting out 500mg/day for one week, then up to 1000mg. Depending how I handle it, it may be going up to 1500mg.

Good luck! I am happy to see your Dr starting you slowly..that's huge in terms of your comfort level w/ side effects.
If you head up to the FAQ thread at the top of the metformin forum, there are studies listed about met and a decrease in miscarriages, so I hope this helps you.
Wishing you a BFP and a h/h pregnancy soon!
