I was diagnosed with "type 2" PCOS a few months ago. Im 24, and after years of having an irregular cycle, in March of 09, I stopped getting a period for 3 months. All bloodwork was normal. My ovaries are polycysic. Im 5ft 6in, 140 lbs. I started taking Vitamin D every day after reading an article about its part in ovulation and have had a normal period, like clockwork for the past 3 months. Im TTC and Im wondering if im really even ovulating now, or just getting periods..... I do have Clomid sitting in my cabinet for when Im ready to start taking it... but im still skeptical about this PCOS diagnosis... I dont have any other symptoms besides that one period of 3 months without a period, and the polycystic ovaries.... Should I just take the Clomid, or wait a little? Very confused....
I am skeptical, too. I had my daughter in 2006, unplanned. I had absolutely no trouble getting preganant. After I had her, I went on Depo-Provera 104 for 15 months. After we decided to have another baby, I went off the shot and didn't get my cycle back for 3 months. It had been 12 months and my periods were still irregular, went to see my OB and he diagnosed me with PCOS. Put me on Met, Femara and Aspirin. I had my FSH (7.6), Prolactin (4.1) and TSH(1.973) drawn on CD7 then my P4 (17) and LH (3.?). No US of my ovaries.
I gained 40 lbs while on Depo which he said triggered the PCOS. I have no hair growth or any other sxs other than the irregular periods and weight gain.
Any ideas?

Have you had an ultrasound to check your ovaries? Also you should temp or use opks to see if you are really ovulating.
Yes, ultrasound showed polycystic ovaries. I also was in the ER in bad pain in March/April, ultrasound then showed a very large cyst ON both ovaries, then when i had a follow up with my OB, they were gone and both ovaries were polycystic.
Sometimes I feel like I'm from the charting police (hihi) but the advice I can offer you is to do just that: temp one or more cycles and it will definitely show whether you O or no. If you click on the link in my siggie you'll see I O'd on the first cycle I temped, the second I didn't fast enough to my linking and started BCP again, my current cycle I may have O'd 4 days ago. If you go to www.fertilityfriend.com they will offer a free course (via e-mail) to help you start charting. Lots of women here do it and I find it pretty much exciting to try to predict what my temps will do the next day. You could also try to get a copy of 'taking charge of your fertility' by Toni Weschler. That book is like the charting-bible and I've really learned a lot from it. Hope this helps and good luck to you in O'ing! (with or without Clomid)
