Question TTC and Synthroid ??

Has anyone got pregnant on synthroid alone?

My doctor will not even rx me met until I've been on the synthroid for 4 more months and then he will rx me met have me on that for a few months and if that don't work rx me clomid to take with the met. But he said its possible that synthroid will get me ovulating more often and balance my hormones? Have u ever heard this?

Because my levels were a little off they put me on Synthroid 25mcg. They said it should help regulate my periods. I would think that if the Synthroid gets your hormones in more of a happy balance you might ovulate more and be more regular. I'm not IR (that I know of) so my MD didn't say anything about Met.

I found out something else about synthroid. I had to go to an Endo because of a lump on my thyroid and he asked about my prenatals. He said to wait at least 4 hours between taking them because the synthroid will interfer with the iron (i think) in the prenatals. Its possible for the synthroid to help balance out hormone. Here's a little something from online

Thyroid disease is interrelated with women's hormones, and can have an impact on menstrual cycles, fertility, estrogen/progesterone levels, successful pregnancy and/or miscarriage, the ability to breastfeed and menopause. Thyroid patient advocate Mary Shomon will help you learn about the connections to hormonal symptoms and conditions, and how to successfully become pregnant and breastfeed with a thyroid condition.

It makes sense. Plus its good to start at the bottom and work your way up. I'm an impatient person so I know how hard that can be but its for the best. Just make sure you keep a record of what you do and how long you've taken things..
