My husband refuses to get a vasectomy and I want to get off of BCPs because my period on it are almost nonexistant and I have other health issues like High Blood Pressure and Cholesterol. I might have endo and need that checked anyway so I was thinking about getting my tubes tied and letting them look for endo while they were in there. Has anyone had any problems with tubiligations (sp?) ? I have heard some people say they have gotten pregnant after they had their tubes tied. Does this happen often? Has anyone had heavier periods, more pain, etc.? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
I had a tubal when my youngest was born - she's now 18. I had/have no problems whatsoever. You have to know that it is permanent & not reversable. I knew I didn't want to have anymore children, so this was the best option for me.
But it may have been what triggered my PCOS flair. It was about a year after the surgery that my world began to fall apart. I had a negitive reaction to the actual surgery.
The gas they blow up the tummy, traveled to my sholders(A common point they didn't warn me could happen)It was the most horrable pain I have ever experienced.
Being cut open can also cause scar tissue and then endometreosis to form.
Both of these can effect hormones and PCOS symptoms.
It was great not to worry about birth control. But what I deal with now...I would prefere to worry about condoms than 100lb weight gain, high cholesteral and a hysterectomy 7yrs later.
So make sure you face all the facts about this surgery. It is not as easy or risk free as you may think.
Now, if you do decide it is the best for you, then make sure you take 2 weeks(at least one) off from work.3 days is NOT enough time to heal!!
Avoid any heavy lifting(no laundry hauling) and be aware you are swollen inside.
You will also need to watch for a bladder ot urinary track infection.

I've heard of women's tubes growing back and them getting pregnant again.
I really wonder why men refuse to get a vasectomy. Isn't it much more reversible than a ligation?

I should have added that I had mine cut & cauterized, so there is no chance that they will grow back or I could ever get pregnant. I chose to have this done, because I had 3 children. I thought that if anything ever happened to me, my husband might remarry & possibly want more children. I thought this was a very unselfish thing for me to do. I know that my PCOS symptoms didn't get any better or worse after having the surgery.....
Thanks ladies for all your feedback. I know that I don't want any more children but I do worry that if I have it done later in life I will just be going back to get a hysterectomy or end up with a tubal pregnancy. I have never had any surgeries before. I had two children but they both came out vaginally. I'm kinda scared.
