Smile Tuesday is Orientation Day for Us!!

Well it's finally here. This coming Tuesday we go for our orientation with an agency in Sacramento. I'm so excited and nervous and have about a million questions.

One thing I'm wondering about is the birth mother expenses. What happens if you pay all the expenses and then she decides not to give you the child? Do you get reimbursed or are you just out the money?

Also what happens if you don't "pass" the homestudy? The only two reasons I'm concerned about this are because we have a pool and we need to buy a safety fence to surround it, I guess this is a law in CA if you're going to adopt or foster, and secondly I'm concerned that they may think I can't do it because of my weight. Although I know I can and will! Any thoughts cysters?

Keep you fingers crossed and prayers said for us ladies!
Ciao Bellas
Julia

Congrats! The expenses depend on the state. Each state has their own laws about how much you pay to the bp's and some agencies even have their own "rules" on how much is paid and what happens if the bm backs out.

You're dr will mostlikely have to fill out medical forms and they will probably ask if he thinks you're capable of being a parent, etc. As long as he says Yes, you won't have any issues (this is what my medical form for my HS agency-which is different from my adoption agency but I'm adopting from China so it could be completely different but my HS agency does domestic adoptions as well and I think they use the same exact form for everything). Start calling around about the fence or even that new sensor thing that you can put on pools if someone falls in your pool an alarm goes off to alert you (I saw that on HGTV). There are also covers rather than fences that you can get and alarms for your doors if the doors are opened. I'm sure it will be a couple months before you have the HS as you'll have tons of paperwork to fill out beforhand so you can start looking in to it.

Good Luck!
