On monday, I began to get this pain in my right side around my ovary area, and it proceeded to get worse, so much so I called NHS Direct to talk to a nurse and a Dr, at first they swore i was just pregnant, but considering i had just finihsed AF on the sunday i pretty dam sure i wasnt!!
So after a long time on the phone they came to the conculsion that it was one or 2 small cysts ruptering, and to try to get comfy and take ibruprofin, and should it get worse call them and they will bring me into A&E!
Ok so took tuesday off, felt very raw on the insides and found that laughing coughing and walking was a little tender too.
On Wednesday morning, i woke up to the most horrendous pain in my back passage, it made me burst in to tears and cling on for life, I felt that if it carried on much longer i was going to pass out, and i was scared to sit up incase the pain came back, I tried getting an appointment yesterday but to no avail, but was lucky to get one today.
I am sooooo angry that Drs still sweep PCOS under the carpet, she totally disagreed with what NHS Direct said and noticed I had a small cold and asked if i had been sneezing!! yes as normal with a cold you sneeze, so she recksons that its a pulled muscle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have never pulled a muscle with that amount of pain in my life, and i have broken bones, come off motorbikes and pulled muscles before!! so she gave me 2 internals and said that it is probably just a pain that A) i will have to live with or B) one that will just go and no one will ever know what it was!!
I also, pushed for a scan, as I have not had an ultrasound for quite a few years, and I want to make sure that things are as normal as they can be considering! she told me that it was going to be a waste of money as PCOS sufferers never change aparently my ovaries will be the same as they were 8yrs ago!! is this right?
So she gave in and said she would put me forward for one, but dont hold my breathe.
So I am still none the wiser on the pain, alls i know is i feel as raw as anything and was wondering does anyone have any advice?
Thanks and sorry to waffle
Claire

aww sorry you are in so much pain right now. Could you see a different dr? That one sounds horrible!! I had to change gp surgery to get some help, hmm. Sounds similar to when i have a bad bout of ibs, cant dx you as im not a dr, but sounds quite like mine. Hope you feel better soon

(hugs) that sounds awful. I would guess the pain isnt related to the PCOS though, especially if its in your back passage. Might be IBS?
I had an episode a couple of years ago where I was doubled over in pain in my stomach. Couldnt work out what it was, it was horrendous though. I went to the doctors after a few days as I couldnt function and the pain was nearly making me black out. Anyway, the dr laid me on the table and made me lie still and said she was going to massage my stomach to try and move some wind. Oh my god that was embarrasing, she kept saying "try and do a big fart, and you will feel better!"
I think with hindsight it was just wind, the most painful and terrible wind but still wind!!
Hope you get some answers soon.

First of all....you need a new doctor. The condition of the ovaries in women with PCOS with cysts does not remain static. It will improve and worsen depending on lifestyle, medications etc.
I can relate exactly with what you describe. I had the same experience when I did my third round of clomid and my ovary was enlarged. The pain is horrendous. I had it on and off for a few weeks but I've been free of it for ages now. I'll put money on it being a cyst or a number of small cysts.
My advice is to see another GP and push for that scan.
I had my initial scan in 2000 and was dx i took orthotrycyclin and dieted a bit had a new scan less than 6 months and was told the ovary looked completely normal.... now having eaten alot of cake I have had acne and other symptoms AND a doubling over pain when one of those little bugg£rs burst. You can get better and worse in a matter of months. Just becareful NHS dr get sooooooo p!ssy when you tell them about research that they dont understand/accept.
