Default tweezing problems

hiya, can any1 help me please. ive been tweezing my chin for 2 yrs now. it worked well at the start but now it keeps getting ingrowing and now really course and my skin is all bumpy red and marked from trying to tweeze them out. i started out tweezing every week or two now im constantly at the mirror either plucking or trying to see how bad my skin looks. is there something i could use on my skin to calm it down after plucking, maybe something like witch hazel? i tried concealer but that didnt do much good. i dont work at the moment so i try not to wear make up all the time but im going to need to soon at the rate of my hair growth. any ideas?

Well, if you don't tweeze in the exact direction the hair is growing you can definitely end up with ingrown hairs. Also, a REALLY good tweezer is neccessary. It seems your tweezer might be dull as you are having a difficult time getting them out and the skin gets irritated.

Go to Sally's Beauty Supply and get this:
Tweezerman

Or you can purchase it directly online. These are really good tweezers and if they get dull they will sharpen them for free.

Witchhazel is awesome stuff. To help prevent the ingrown hairs you apply it to your skin and let dry before you start tweezing. Emu Oil is also really good for repairing the skin afterwards.

Ditto on the tweezerman tweezers and witch hazel. I have both and love them.

One other thing I try to do at least a couple of times a week is use a good exfoliator. If your skin isn't too sensitive for it, it can help prevent ingrown hairs by keeping the dead skin cells removed. I seem to have fewer ingrown's since starting to do that.

Does exfoliating or anything else work to prevent/repair damage to the skin from tweezing? Years of tweezing have given me bumpy, darker patches of skin! Yuck! I don't know what to do.

I finally had to quit tweezing and go to daily shaving, because frankly, the bumps and redness were way more distracting and unattractive than the hairs by themselves. Much more noticeable. And I was definitely getting obsessive about the plucking........checking several times a day, trying to dig out the hairs as soon as the least little bit was grab-able. No bumps or ingrowns with the shaving so far for me. It's just part of my shower ritual now.

That is what I am doing now too. I just hope the tweezing damage is not permanent.
