Default two days on met - am I nuts????

I have been on met for two days now and I think I am already noticing changes! I know you are all going to think I'm nuts. I also know that I am spotting a little after only 3 doses of 500 mg. Maybe it could be my yearly AF, but I think it's a little coincidental. AND, (this is the pretty subjective one) I think my hirsutism is a little better already. I haven't taken aldactone for three days now, the doc says I shouldn't if I am even NEAR TTC, so I stopped. And usually, when I miss a dose, hair growth comes back with a vengeance, especially facial hair. But yesterday was different. I work 12 hours and usually before the end of that 12 hours, I feel I need to duck into the bathroom and give a quick shave because things are getting a little noticeable, even on the aldactone. But yesterday, even though there was a little growth, it wasn't enough to worry me too much, and I'm pretty self-consious about it. Am I completely nuts? If I am, feel free to tell me! LOL

I'm glad it's going well for you. For me personally, it took 3 months before I saw even a minor difference, but that may not be the case for everybody. The only way to confirm that the drug is working is to test your chem levels and compare them to your previous ones, but no Dr will test again this soon. Just stay on your drug, exercise lots and hopefully you'll get some proof in a few months when you can get your labs re-tested.

All the best!

Talking You're not nuts!

The one thing I will tell you that I noticed right away was the way I felt. Prior to starting met, I was severely insulin resistant, and every day, I felt like I was "groggy" all the time. Within the first week, I felt awake and alive for the first time in years. I'd say it took a few months before I noticed less facial hair, less breakouts, and my cycles returning to normal. It took about 6 months for my hair to start growing back on my head- it was getting really thin! We are all unique, and everyone experiences different time frames before they see symptom control. Christy is right though, it is too soon to check your labs again, but the proof in the pudding will be the next lab results. Good luck, and I hope you enjoy as much success on it as I have!

I did see results almost right away. I was charting, so I knew I was not ovulating and less than a week after I began metformin I ovulated for the first time in years! I have yet to see any improvement in the hirsuitism, but I still have hopes. I haven't even been on the met 3 months, yet.

Good for you Sav!

I am happy for you that you are noticing the changes. It took about 6 months for me to see any real improvement (I was on 1500mg at the time) but the drug can work so differently for different people.

I hope you continue to have success on the met...I know it has made such a positive difference for me!

Thumbs up two days on met - am I nuts????

wow, i thought i was crazy too. My doc has me on 500 mg to start and I swear after 3 days I have more energy, I was afraid to say anything to anyone because I thought they would think I was nuts!! She wants me to be taking 1000 mg by next week so I am hoping the side effects stay away, nothing to terrible yet.
