I know exactly what you mean. I feel like I dont have ANY friends because of it.
Everyone constantly says Now what is it this time!!! I hate it. If it isnt my asthma it is my diabetes, if it isnt that its cysts, if its not that it is pnemonia. SOmeone gets a cold I get it but twice as bad. All I know it started back when I hit high school and hasnt quit since. I feel like everyone thinks I am a hypercondriac but I swear I really am sick when I am. All I can send you is hugs and know that you are not the only one. Take care of yourself.

Default Being sick is the pits....

I can definately relate!! I don't think I've been on a vacation in 5 years...because I've always had to use my vacation time to cover sick days. Besides picking up every cold, virus, and everything else, I've fought awful allergies and sinus problems all my life. I've had two sinus surgeries now, and thankfully they've helped. Before those, I went several years where I was on antibiotics for 7-10 months out of the year for sinus infections, bronchitis, pneumonia. It was always something. I still seem to catch every cold, and I still end up on antibiotics 4-5 times a year...but it's a heck of a lot better than it used to be. One doctor says if I can lose some weight, eat better, and exercise, I'll help strengthen my immune system and do even better. Another doctor says that's bs, and that I'll always be this way because I was really sick when I was little (from birth to age 5), and my immune system never developed properly. So, who knows. All I know to do is try my best to stay healthy, and avoid as many germs as possible.

I am so bad, I cannot and never have been able to work. I'm always sick with something or another. Yes, I am SO bad, even the government agreed and I'm on SSI.
I'm SO bad, I can catch things over the phone! No joke! This morning, I woke up feeling like crap. headache, sore throat, cough, drippy nose, general crap feeling ya know. Anyway, I kept on napping on and off all day, I was so tired. Tonight my dad called, and sheesh. Apparently, he and my oldest brother also woke up sick, with the same things. Also took naps today from being so sick/tired. They caught it from my SIL and niece. Well, where the hell did I get it from? They all live in Florida, I live in Pennysylvania! So I swear, I catch things over the phone! This always happens. I'm sick, they're sick...yet we've had no contact, and nobody here is sick. Grr.

I'm actually getting SUPER pissed about this lately. I can't keep on going on like this. My first stop is a endocrinologist. Let her take a look at me, and see if she finds something. Then a hematologist, and then a immunologist. I'm not taking this crap anymore.
It's a big circle. every problem I have makes the other problems worse. You can't take care of one thing until you take care of another. There is no good starting point here, so I'm just...yeah. Hopefully, I'll end my 24 year long sickness. I'm sick of being sick! I'm not taking it anymore, and I will keep on going to Drs until someone gets their head out of their butts and figures out a way to help me

Okay, I used to have this problem and partly what it was caused by (according to my aunt, who's a nurse) is that I never finished my antibiotics....I took enough to feel better, and then I stopped them. The problem with that is that it compromises your immune system so that it feels like you can never get well and you're really prone to catching every little thing.

I actually gave up on the antibiotics - about 5 years ago I got a combo of broncho/pnuemonia and I decided that I was sick of being sick and I was going to get sick anymore. I didn't take the antibiotics; I did a three day broth and juice diet with a vitamin/herb combo - 9000 mg vit C every day along with double doses of echinechea (sp), ginko, and zinc, and eucalyptus and ginger tea. On day 4, I introduced brown rice, apples, celery, carrots, and chicken to my diet and I cut the vit C down to 6000 mg, but stayed double on herbs/minerals for three more days. On day 7 I cut down the vit C to 3000 mg and cut the herbs/minerals to regular doses for three more days, and then I cut the herbs/minerals and took 1000 mg vit C for another 7 days. I had to pee every hour because I was flooding my body with vit CA, and I didn't do this under any doctor's supervision or even recommendation, but it worked - in 5 years, I've only had one cold. Also, if I know I've been exposed to something, I take an Airborne as immediately as possible and up my vit C to 1000 mg a day for three days.

I have the same problem, if it's going around i get. I was told at work that I have attendance issues even though I always have a Dr. note. I even feel stupid going to the Dr. as often as I do.

that is exactly how i feel (.. ive had a docs note every time as well .. most times they dont argue anymore since they had to call 911 because my manager has never dealt with or been around anyone with asthma she panicked when i started turning blue.. that was in april.. she knows i dont just call in to call in BUT she still gets an attitude and all bout it because we know that its most likely linked to my tonsils being so swollen (my doc has mentioned yanking them for 4 months now since they swell up and im constantly getting strep throat and all.. but hes yet to act on it ..

well i had an ulcerated throat when i was 14, it lasted for weeks. we were down the er everynight, coz i was no better. not fun. anyway, tehy gave me a monster dose of steriods, ie 1200mg over 12hrs. and i been ill ever since. they're toying either with the steriods killed my immune system, and stunted my growth (i'm 5,3 havent grown since 14) or with the antibiotic theory... iwasn't given a specific type of antibiotic to kill the bug, so 1 dose of steriods was not enough....like not finishing the course of antibiotics.

Hi

I know what you mean! I spend nearly all the winter with a sore throat, cough etc : That'lll last weeks and weeks. Then a few days later I'll get another!! I always make sure I have throat sweets in my bag!!

I have a flu jab each winter now (cos I'm on Pred).

I used to be the same way, but I take Vit. C and any time I start getting sick I take some echinacia and goldenseal. Works like a charm for me. (Oh, and for the goldenseal and Ech. I take the liquid forms, they absorb into the bloodstream better that way )

I am the same way I get everything, anyone sniffles and I have it. It is esp bad with strep throat...I think I have that now to tell ya the truth
I have been trying to make the transition to more whole foods, hoping that will make a difference. Plus going to start walking.
I should add a multi-vitamin to that too hehe
