The polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is the commonest hormonal disturbance to affect women. The main problems that women with PCOS experience are menstrual cycle disturbances (irregular or absent periods), difficulty in controlling body weight and skin problems (acne and unwanted hair growth on the face or body). Not all women with PCOS experience all of the symptoms and furthermore a women's problems may change over time.
